Welcome one and all to our humble grow room. This is a joint effort between myself and donetodeath. I'm certain he'll be hitting this thread up plenty as well.

It's been 3 months in the making. Lots of planning, reading, saving, and waiting. I could tell a whole 'nother epic tale of how we got to this point. But now we're ready to grow!

Right now, just about everything has been taken care of. Room is sealed up as best possible and poly-plastic is up. Just gotta finish up a few things and eventually add a carbon filter and more centrifugal fans.

We got 1200 watts, digital ballasts, air-cooled reflectors. Looks all crazy green because i just turned them on, but are better once fully on. however not real easy to take a picture in there at that point lol.


Then we have the 435 cfm centrifugal exhaust, pumping air through the lights.


Then there's our tubs which will hold a total of 12 plants. Just waiting on them seeds to germinate.


Connected to the tubs we have a control reservoir as well as a back up reservoir that will keep the water level constant via float valve. You can also see the intake duct and a/c.


Then there's the Black Pearl beauties. Just waiting for them to wake up and say hello.


Here's our badass DIY shelf made from spare lumber. A bit messy I know, but we're still sorting stuff out and setting some stuff up. It houses our DIY speaker system which contains parts from Sony, Dell, Apple, and Bose . donetodeath rigged up the speakers. he's fuckin leet like that. It's setup so we can just dock our iphones in there and jam to some music. If you were to buy something similiar it'd be a good couple hundred, but for us it was basically free.




So the plan is to grow out these seeds and pick out some good moms, then take some clones and add a screen. Just realized I forgot to take a picture of our mom area with our big ass cfl's. Oh well. You guys will see it eventually. Donetodeath will be by to add anything I forgot.

what did you cover the tubs with? looks like aluminum tape but there is no writing on it...

it is aluminum tape actually. we didn't purposely choose some without writing but now that you mention it, I prefer the tape without it alot more. I believe we got it from walmart.

Yep we got it from HGS (with no problems i might add), we've heard many great things about the strain, can't wait.

Here's a little update. We got three seeds germed and in rapid rooters under some cfl's for now. They're on top of a heat mat. Temp is about 76f, and 80% RH inside the dome.

Today we checked our tubs for the first time for water leaks and were pretty disappointed, especially since beforehand we didn't give much thought to how exactly we were gonna get the water out once it was in there. We ended up having to use our little water pump to fill up 5 gallon water jugs one at a time and dump them out. Since our system is like a total of 80+ gallons, it took a long time to dump them out with our little pump. Hopefully we won't have to change the reservoirs that often.

We eventually got the water out of all of them and did some resealing on the fittings. We also discovered we need some small metal worm clamps for the hose attachments on the outside. they didn't seam to seal nearly as well as we'd hoped. Live and learn I suppose.

Ah the first signs of life. Always a refreshing sight. The top-right one seems really eager to grow. Got a couple more seeds germed. Still got another 7 coming. Should have another 3 in some rapid rooters i'm guessing tomorrow, then the rest on friday and saturday. With HGS i'm pretty confident we'll get 100% germ rate.


I know it's kind of no-no until they get some real roots, but I pulled out one of the rapid rooters to just to see and there was a crazy tap root shooting out of it! I wish I had taken a pic. Sorry.

Also a bit of speed bump. I checked the tubs again today and there were still one or two leaks. I also came to realization that when the tubs are full of water, they bow out all crazy and the lids pop off. We're gonna have to add some reinforcements to the tubs oh well. For $8 a tub, I still say they were worth it.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to reinforce the plastic tubs?

Get a couple bungee cords and wrap them around the tub, should hold them stable. Or if you dont mind going back to the store, I bout this heavy duty 33 gal. tub for my RO water and when its full it barely changes its shape. Its made by HOMZ, bought it at Meijer.
