So i plan on growing 3 skunk x mass autoflowers in my rubbermaid totes using 200+ watts of CFL light.
i am really just looking for advice on what soil to buy and if i should use nutes on my first grow or not....any input would be most appreciated.
(any other overall advice would be sweet)

hey...
fox farms ocean forest soil
"go box" nutrients
....
that's everything you need.
I'd also reccommend getting something to bulk up tricomes, like molasses or something like that.

yep, that's the one. I suggest buying an inexpensive measurer...fuck i can't remember what those little things are called! they're like little measuring tear droppers and show measurements.
pipettes!
you'll need some pipettes. prolly just 1, but because it's annoying to replace them, get 2. these are essential measuring tools, because of the shape of the bottles!!! please heed this call if you decide to buy the go box.

ha! i saw that! that's funny. i mean that would work, but really the concern is more about pouring. the bottles that come in the go box aren't very good at pouring. the pipettes transcend this difficulty (of course until you begin to run low and the fluid level is to low).
trust me, the pipette makes it easy.
just keep the next gallon jug you empty instead of recycling it. rinse it real good and you'll be able to use it to mix your nutes.
i was really happy with the go box because of its completeness. You don't have to buy a bunch of separate bottles for 20$/piece.
how big are your 3 containers?
prolly talk to you tomorrow. lata

ps.
i recommend having 2 to 3 gallon jugs, because you'll want the water to be room temperature, as well as leaving the cap off of plain water for a day to let chlorine evaporate to the best of its ability.
...
there are weird idiosyncrasies when growing like this, but you get used to them once you've established a pattern.

ha! i would've assumed great lakes water would be fine on its own.
i don't know how meticulous you are about the quality of your water as it comes from the tap or faucet. i, personally haven't noticed a problem with my tap water. especially considering the fact that the go box nutes seem to clear up any pH quarrels one might have.
the evaporation and room temperature tips are easily employed and as a result have a great success to effort ratio.

Well we have a huge watersoftener hooked up...which I think is faulty or this area just has heavy calcium deposits. (If i drink a glass it will leave residue on the bottom) I thought that was a no no? Other than that yeah we have a well and the water should be great. Could I just get a faucet filter?

letting the water set with it's cap off would be a good way of letting settlement do it's thing as well as evaporating chlorine in this case.
as i said before, it depends on how meticulous you wanna get about water.

just make sure it's what you want. it worked 100% for me, but I don't want you to hate me if you don't like it!

I purchased the GO Box a month ago or so. There were like 5 things from the box I used, didn't really seem to do anything for me. My suggestion would be to just buy 1 kind of nute for now, it's your first grow. Or maybe no nutes, see what happens naturally. Good luck

it's a to z, really. the portions are just smaller. it'll be good for your 3-1 gallon grows and probably another grow of the same kind.
