Size of the starting container?

Does the size of the starting container matter? I've read a lot of guides where people say to start out with small containers and then move them to larger ones, but if I'm growing a large indoor crop, I'll probably be too lazy for that.

So, my question is, can I just plant a couple of my germinated seeds in some huge-ass pots?

Yes, it's just going to require more water.
