Hey, I remember an article on OG that claimed that if you put a small amount of ground up charcoal on the bottom of your pots before layering with soil and amendments that it would reduce smells significantly. Is this true? Would charcoal affect ph, drainage, nutrients, etc?

I don't know, but I wouldn't do it. The smell comes from the flowers and leaves breathing into the surrounding air, I don't know what charcoal trapped under soil would do for that.

yeh that's what I thought . . . well, maybe if I have future grows I'll do it, right now I'm just concentrating on breaking through to harvest in the following five months.
