I just need to rant. Sorry if I offend anyone. I’m so tired of reading post after post about how do you germinate seeds, do I really need a grow light or can I just use a desk lamp, I have 5 seeds in the same pot, how big do my pots need to be, can I grow under my bed? READ FIRST! If I’m going to take my time to read your post and respond to it I want to feel like you took the time to type "germination" into a search box. Or goolgled "marijuana growing." We all have questions but for the love of god don’t ask something that is in a sticky at the top of the page. And don't start growing if you haven't read anything on it. "I just started germinating my seeds what light do I need? I've had my seeds under my desk light for a week why are they dying?" LOOK IT UP FIRST. I feel so bad for all those plants that are going to die because someone didn't take the time to know what they were doing first. Sorry just had to rant.

I agree.

But it does make sense that the first questions that people who don't read are going to ask are going to be about the first steps of growing.

I guess it's possible some people don't know the grow guides exist, although that's a stretch since any even remotely close google search will bring up grow guides. Such as this one:

I'm almost to the point where I want to stop helping people. "How do i tell if I have a female or male plant?" "How do I transplant my plants?" "How can I tell when my plant needs to be move to 12/12 light?" I work 50hrs a week and go to school full time. I really don't have time to awnswer questions by people who can't use a search.

thats a horrible suggestion...this person could have a whole wealth of knowledge to share and is tired of people being lazy and not looking around for a few minutes, it takes a person much more time to type out a reponse or link a person to another thread like the grow guides than it would for the first person to have just looked around

your telling me that it takes more time for someone to "type a response as an anwser" than it is for someone to "type in a phrase to search for, then sift through all the topics to find one that matches his question (if there is one) then read that thread which may or may not anwser his initial question". You got to be joking.

I don't think you get it. When someone asks a question they could easily find on the net, it's like saying "My time is too important to waste doing my own research, so just tell me what I want to know." You can't tell me that it takes any effort or time to type "marijuana germination" into google. In fact, it probably takes less time to do the *basics* in google than it does to type out the question in the first place. Now for more advanced questions, that's a different matter, but for the simple stuff, there's no excuse for not doing your own search. Just for shits, I just typed "marijuana germination" into google and clicked "I'm feeling lucky", and wa-la, the page that came up had all the info anyone who's ever asked about germination would want to know, in specific detail.

I feel your pain, Joint. It's a recurring problem at any forum. We create guides and stickies with the basic info so that n00bs don't have to look very hard and they would still rather ask the same question again that's been asked several times this week. Simply scrolling down the page would answer half the questions. Looking at the stickies would answer more. And searching would answer most. I'm proud to say that I learned by searching and reading and seeking out new information and new guides all over so I that I could have a better understanding, but it's amazing how many people refuse to put that tiny amount of effort into it and then bitch when they don't get help fast enough.

HIGH All, I know when I want to learn something new...read read read is what I do...if your really serious about growing our sacred plant why would you NOT want to <B>Learn</B> more about it..yes the internet is a great tool and more people should use it.

That's the way I feel. I want to help people who want to help them selves. I just ask that people respect my time.

When I frist got interested in growing all I did was read the FAQ's, All the information you need to know is in them(at overgrow). I didn't even go into the forums untill i had my first plants growing. I havn't even started a thread and i have been on growing websites for probibly close to a year now. There was no need Everything i needed to know to get started growing was in there. People also need to start posting in the right sections also if you post a noob question put it in the ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS section not that hard. I see your anger and feel for you reading the same questions over and over and seeing the same replys over and over gets to be a little much.
