Flouresant's

i just noticed that in my work they sell flouresant light's very very cheap and i wanted to know if using flouresants to flower 6 plants..how much watt's of flouresant light would i need.....

it's £3 for a 38w


any help would be great

I beleive you need at least 1500 - 1800 lumens? More would most definately not hurt. Pot loves light. :-)

do you know how many lumens come from a 38w flouresant light

You really want more than that.

I know someone growing a hindu kush plant with a single 1800 lumen cfl, but it's not growing incredibly fast.

For people that want to figure watts/sq ft instead of lumens/sq ft, you want about 50w/sq ft for good lighting with HID lights, and IIRC closer to 75 w/sq ft with for good lighting with fluorescents to compensate for the lower efficiency. Remember, watts measure how much electricity you are using, not how much light is produced.
