Indoor/Outdoor seed recommendations..does it matter?

Hey all new around here... but all I can say is this forum is awesome. How everyone takes joy and supports each other in there hobby. It's a beautiful thing.. lol
I was curious, on all these seedbanks they suggest whether a seed is meant for indoor or outdoor growing. Do some really need the delicacy that indoor growing can provide, or will they fare fine outside (i.e. White Widow, Northern Light, Ice strains... these have all been suggested for indoor as far as I've read) And are the seeds suggested for outdoors tougher, can withstand harsher temperatures, lighting, all the conditions that the outside brings.. I figure weed is weed and it's called that for a reason. But maybe the strains really are more specific then that?

it has to do with the production of buds. some plants produce more inside then outside and vice versa all plants can grow outside but with say the widow if you plant her outside and she is rated a 400g then she might produce a little less then if she was grown inside
