Semi-accidental grow. Six inch sprout. Now what?

I was smoking some seedy weed and decided to put a few seeds into a couple of 2" house plant pots. The pots have small plants already growing inside them. Really I just did it for fun as I didn't think anything will grow. Well a few days later I look and I had a 3" sprout growing. It's been about a week or so and now it's about 6".

So what do I do now? I have extremely limited funds as I've been disabled from work since May of '04 and Workers Comp has decided to stop paying me, so please keep in mind I need you to recomend the absolute cheapest things to buy.

I have a half of a closet to setup a grow room in. It would be in the corner meaning it has two white walls. The door is a dark stained wood.

I have seen all kinds of conflicting information all over the place and here's what I gather I'm supposed to do right now. Please tell me if any information is incorrect or if you'd do something different.

1) Get some tomato type soil 20-10-10
2) Transplant into a 2 gallon pot*
3) Buy lights**
4) Put lights on an 18/6 schedule***

* What are the steps for doing this without hurting the plant?
** What setup would be the absolute cheapest. Feel free to recomend something that's a little more expensive, but will help production?
*** How close to the plant do I put the lights?

I have seen some people say I should bury the plant until the leaves are a couple inches above the soil. Is this correct, am I really supposed to bury most of the plant?

what i would do is this;
use a 2-3 gal bucket punch some good sized hole in the bottom ,put screen over holes too big for pea gravel , put an aquarium airstone in the bottom,run an air line to an air pump, fill 2-3 in of fishtank gravel, mix your siol 50-50- w/ perlite,CAREFULLY transplant and bury to the first true set of leaves.....(the air pump delivers oxygen and helps utilize nutrients more efficiently in soil meds)
next id probabally look into somewide spectrum flourescent lighting in your case they put out l;ess heat, use less juice and generally cost less to purchase....
id loook around the house for a roll of wrappping paper to cover the back of the door(the back side is usually white)or paint the door white...

i try to give my girls NO-LESS than 60w per sq ft and NO-LESS than 10,000 lumens per plant....
i veg 18-6 until internode spacing starts to stagger then 16-8 until they convince me to flower....... 24 hrs of dark then they start their new cycle in 10-14 2wks-wk3-4 10.5-13.5 wks 5-6 12-12 til their ready then 48 hrs of dark then we hang out!!!!!!

your best bet is to gather info here n there use what you think suits you...try different things there is noone way to grow quality herb....... just ways that work better than others FOR others GOOD LUCK ....HAPPY GROWING

Dude, he said he was on a budget, i mean cmon, hes a brand new grower. Ok, Just go out by a some floros, set up in closet, transplant the plant. and put it on a 18/6 or 24/7 light plan untill you have half the height you want, then turn the lights to 12/12 and wait. Good luck

I myself don't suggest 24/0 plants need darkness at a point light can no longer be turned into energy at which point the plant actually grows so 24/0 is just a waste of energy

Oh and that somewhat soil/hydro bucket that will only cost you like $50

THE GUY ALREADY HAS MOST OF WHAT HE NEEDS and i was giving insight on how i make things work on a budget----------

IF he had to buy EVERYTHING, the bucket, gravel, perlite, airstone ,air pump,soiland even lights(flourescent) he could grow for less than a 100 $

being thrifty and having friends make things a whole lot more inexpensive.....
some one have an old aquiarum in their garage theyd part with for cheap???
HELL YES THEY DO !!!!! i found a 29 gallon fishtank at a garage sale with everything but fish for 20 bucks!!! and it already had a plant & aquairum light (perfect for germinating)
