This is going to be my first planting ever but I have a strong background in planted freshwater tanks, which is just an underwater garden, same things apply. I also have supplies on hand of the raw forms of N, P, and K to dose however I want. Most are in liquid form or can be dissoved, ie, powdered (oh and cheap as hell too, just ask). Sooooo, I know quite a bit about plants.
Here's my 29 gallon when it was planted and needing of some serious trimming.
BUT, out of that I got these gorges looking 'weeds'.
It is an acutally underwater weed, but not weed weed.
Anyway, I am into salt water corals anymore. The 29g tank now with all live and growing corals.
I know plants, and I can grow corals really well, I think I can manage a plant. Did a bit of reading and here's what I got so far.
I can't plant inside yet, live with parents still actually though older. I live in the middle of nowhere mid-west farm land, well say a little south of the great lakes. You can drive 4-5 mins from my house and be in farmland for the next hour driving straight. Good thing, farmland, clean air and good soil. Bad thing, a little north, so need a faster growing northern strain, is it indica or the other?
The spot I found, only about 15 mins from my house, close to a tiny town of about 300 people max actually, so I can park at a bar in town and walk on a warm day easy. Dirt road to it, you go up a bit and you can look in every direction and only see feilds and no houses. One house about 4-5 miles away, so nobody would ever be able to see you walking to the woods. In the woods there is a small stream/creek contained in the forest. Just up the bank I found a small flat space surrounded by what will be brush and trees (trees are a little spread out). They won't get as much light there, but I won't have to water as the ground will stay wet there most of the year with the spring right next to it. It's in a forest nobody goes in except hunters but I plan to have them gone by hunting season. You can't see the spot from any feilds and will not be visible by air. I don't plan to plant a lot of plants. Maybe 15 total, spread out in different spots, just keeping track of each spot, maybe 5-6 spots of 3-4 plants. This way too, I only go out there minmal of 4-5 times all year, no way to be tracked even if found, going to duck tape my soles too. What do you think? Good spot?
Now for what seeds. For my climate, lattitude, and outdoor situation, what would be some good strains? I plan to just pretty much let it grow on it's own and how nobody finds it. Might buy some live lady bugs and praying manitis for bug protection. Check on it every once in a while. Where should I get them and anybody want to donate some?

I'm looking for a good strain so I can knock my friends socks off when it's all said and done (nobody else knows but one person, my smoking budy, joint project). Now, to practice with I have just started keeping my bag seeds. Got a 1/4 of good bud today, a decent mid and a full 1/4 for $50, wasn't too bad. I was able to only pull out 7 good looking seeds that didn't squash easy which tells you it was grown decently, but a male or two around flowering. I'm going to practice germinating them and maybe plant a few of them to start with until I get some good seeds.
Oh, if I germinate in house and plant in a small grow container right before I plant it in the forest when will be the best time to plant for my area? Still getting a little cold at night, lowest I saw was 33F, but too close for me. Could I in a few weeks or later?
What should I plant the germinated seeds in? Substrate and container and ferts (NPK #'s) for temporary planting? I plan to dig small holes in the forest but big enough, and fill it with potting soil mix (what mix?) and plant the seedling in that in the ground.
Those are most of my questions for now, will have many more on some specifics when they come up.
Most important thing to me right now, strain and planting time.
