1st stealth outdoor grow - I feel overwelmed...help!

Hey guys, I recently discovered the joy that is weed, and I am planning a grow. Problem is I feel real overwelmed...there is ALOT of information out there, almost too much...I have been reading and skimming alotta the posts, guides, and links to others guides on these forums, and while they are informative, the extreme amount of info is overwelming and im not sure how all of it applies to my specific case, ya know?

Location- I am planning a stealth grow in hidden country fields about 20 min or so from my house. This is in the central Virginia area, so the climate durring the summer is quite fine from what I understand (humid and warm, no frost by now, sunny some days, rainy others). Anyway the grow will not be anywhere near my property, and honestly I have not picked an exact location. What is better, the middle of a field near some inconspicuous bushes/trees, or at the edge of a forest where it turns into fields? The closer to the forest, the easier it would be to hide and make it look natural I recon...

Seeds- This is one of the parts I get REAL confused over. There are SOOOO many different types of seeds/strains. Can someone recommend me a strain that is easy for first time growers that doesnt require constant care and whatnot and can survive relatively well by itself? The tiny differences in the types of strains dont really matter to me, I dont care if it does or doesnt taste a certain way, ya know? I just wanna keep this simple hehe. Where on the net can I get these seeds, money is tight right now, but I want to get a good amount so I will hopefully have a good yeild by the end of summer. Stuff like time till maturation isnt really a big problem as I have all summer.

Time- I am in NC now, but I go back to VA for a 4 day weekend in two weeks. Should I rush and buy seeds now to plant then, or should I wait till summer (mid-may) to plant? Does that matter?

Work- What exactly would be required of me for all of this? Constant watering? What is pruning? What do I need todo in preparation, such as do I need mulch the area before planting? Any other things I need todo to care for it? What about things like bugs and animals, how can I protect against that?

Money is real tight right now and I will be pretty busy durring the summer, so going to the grow site every day might be difficult. I dont wanna sound like a lazy 'pop the seeds in the ground and expect 5 pounds of weed in 2 months' type of person, but at the same time the least amount of work the better. I dont plan on selling the stuff, it will be for recrational use with friends and whatnot, so spending a million hours to get the utmost quality isnt really nessessary...I juz wanna get high haha.

Anyway how much should I plant anyway...I have looked at a few seed sites and they all sell in 10-20 seed packs...Since this isnt going to be a huge selling op, and it is only a personal op, how many should I plant? Keep in mind I have no green thumb... how much should I plant so that I would still have a relatively good harvest even if quite a few plants died because I suck at growing stuff lol.

Anyway sorry if this was too long or newbieish...I appreciate any answers yall give me, thanks for any and all help everyone.

I'm in NC, near VA... personally, I think it's still way too cold to plant anything. I'd say wait a few months.

sativa, what exactly is that? a special strain of weed? Any good places to buy that stuff from off the net? I found one place off google for cheap but it doesnt indicate ANYWHERE that it is still a cannibus plant lol. Also whats 'bag seed'? Thanks.

yeah your post totally helped me out. The part about the work especially, cause I didnt think it was that much work. After thinking about it I have decided I will put forth as much effort to get this done, because I wanna grow some plants. I think it will be a fun learning experience. Im new to weed but I am loving it already so I think learning as much as possible is a good thing lol.

So when it comes to fertilization, what is required of that? My mom used to garden but hasnt for 10 years so swiping a few gardening tools and stashing them in my car so I could go work on the weed garden wont be a problem. How many times a week should I fertilize? About the fimming and stuff ill wait till the time comes before asking about that, it seems complicated lol.

Sativa is ond type of cannabis (the others being indica and ruderalis), the plants tend to be bigger and more suited for outdoor growing. It's also knowing for giving a more lively, awake high as opposed to a real subdued, stoney high. Within sativa and indica there are a variety of different strains though.

grow it in your house for about 2 weeks...then i suggest you put it outside...but...good luck wit your first grow

I'm pretty useless here, I'm jjust letting ya know that I'm just starting to plan my first grow too, so I know whatcha mean by 'overwhelmed'... stick in there, I'm sure the payoff will be worth the stress

I'am in the exact same boat. Im in Northern VA and planning on trying my first grow. I have 10 acres so i well be able to do it close to my property but the hardest part is trying to do all this without the parentals finding out. I have a few questions thought. If you are growing them outside how do you force them to flower so you dont have to wait the whole summer? Also how do you tell the difference between a male plant and a female plant and is thier technique you can use so that you have a bigger chance of getting female plants. Another question i have is what is the part that you take of from the plant and smoke lol? And finally how long well bag seeds stay alive like i bought some weed a few weeks ago is it possible that the seeds from that bag might still be alive even thought they have been sitting in an airtight back for a few weeks?

The only way to force them to flower outside is to make sure they only get 12-13 hours of light, so you could, cover them with a blanket, tarp or anything that is "light-proof". but you could cover them at maybe 8:00PM and uncover them at 8:00-9:00 AM but this is a huge amount of work if it is farther away and there is not alot of room for error because you can't fuck up the cycle, it will fuck up the production of the bud.

The difference between a male and female.. When the days start to get shorter this signals the plant that "it's time to start reproducing so we can live for another season through the seeds we produce" so some plants go male and some are female. The way you can tell which is which is by looking at the corners of the plant like where the branches come off of a larger branch. If it is a male after a while you will start seeing almost like little sacks, these are seed pods or i guess pollen pods because seeds don't acctuly grow in them, before that happens there will be little tiny green things poking out. The difference between the two is in the female little white hairs will start growing out rather than the green ones. Usually it is kinda difficult to tell before the pods come out but MAKE SURE THE MALES AREN'T CLOSE TO THE FEMALES WHEN THE PODS OPEN UP because then all your gunna have is alot of bunky weed with tons of seeds. When the plant gets pollenized it stops putting it's energy into the production of bud, which is the good shit that we smoke, into the production of seeds so you're going to have small seedy bud. What you can do with your males is get them the hell away from the bitches and let them do their thing farrrr away, like a mile away. Well not acctuly a mile but really far away. but the only reason for keeping your males alive is to make hash out of them cuz they rnt very good to smoke.

The part you smoke is the sticky icky icky... the bud, not the leaves or stems, but you can make hash out of everything except the seeds because they have a different chemical in them. Not Tetra Hydra Cannibinol... THC or however you spell it.

Oh yea and im kinda unsure about if there are things you can do to make seeds go female or male, anybody know about this?

Almost forgot, Yes your seeds would be fine they will probably last a couple years in an airtight container ive had a mason jar of seeds for a couple of years from a fucked up grow and they still sprout so i wouldn't be worried about it.
