candles don't burn co2 they burn o2. In fact burning the candle will output more co2. Whenever you break somoething down by burning it.. two major products are co2 and h2o. youll be fine burning that candle.... no need for dry ice unless your looking to add more co2. Anyways another thing about your candle burning idea. Burning a candle buts oil globules into the air. Not an extremely clean process. They may bind to some dirt particles however the situation will only worsen. so read some of these forems on filters and so on and invest in one of those.

what do u guys make of that?

Bad or good idea to burn candles?

I'd say no, it can only cause problems, and I doubt it will give off even close to enough co2 to be beneficial at all... If you're looking to add some co2 to your growroom, there are other much more effecient, and alot less risky ways of doing it

This seems like a bad idea. As was already pointed out, any combustion follows this formula.

Fuel + Oxygen -------> CO2 + h2O + gas (somtimes)

( -----> means reacts to produce, basically equals )

The c02 and h20 will be fine for your plant, but, the other products of the reaction may not be.
If you burn a candle, you will have unexpected gas products (... what makes the candle smell nice? chemicals - which will combust too, the same goes with the candle's wax, colour ect...)

The combustion forumla shown above is called COMPLETE combustion. Complete combustion is rare.

In most cases, you will have INCOMPLETE combustion - wich is a lack of the oxygen particles in the reaction. In incomplete combustion, undetermined products at unbalanced amounts will be produced - these may/probably will will hurt your plants.

Therefore, I would stay away from the candle. Only large growers/grows should need additional CO2 anyways. If you feel the need for CO2, you can buy CO2 in tanks, and regulate the flow to the plants.

Hope that helps -
NP

Well, I was thinking it's a bad idea for a simpler reason. Candle + fan = a bad situation or no flame.
