When to flower?

Hello all, I've posted here before with some questions...haven't started growing yet but when I do, what's the rule about when to really turn back the lights to 12/12? I've read the following ideas: You can flower from seedling if you want, but you should wait until the plant is about a foot tall indoors to flower for a descent-sized plant; and only plants that are about 30 days old will be ready to respond to the light change. Which is most accurate? I have limited space to grow so I want to get my plants to stay relatively small- I just want to make sure I don't really have to veg. them for a month before I flower cuz by then they will probably be too tall for me. Thanks in advance for any advice.

what u have said is true and it is best to wait at least 30 days from seed. remember nothing much happens for the 1st couple of weeks so it aint that long a time. if ur worrid about the hight then id think about training or topping rather than skimping on the veg time. the only other thing u cud do is use clones as they can b flowerd a lot quicker and smaller, the problem with that tho is getting clones.

yeah like wylde1 said if height is your only problem there is ways to keep a plant small. my plant was vegging for 3 months and it is still 1 feet tall. i did lots of training on it. you can also make a scrog. it maximise the yield and it wont go over the screen.
