Sounds like you need to start reading friend.

Check out this grow guide, it will answer many of your questions.

http://www.geocities.com/quickgrowguide/

Also check out some of the grow journals people have posted, they have tons of valuable information in them.

That should get you started until one of the grow Mods come along.

Edit:

Also, a few minutes of searching the grow forums will find you many threads answering these same types of questions.

The search function is located in the upper right hand corner of the screen and will help ya out.

Ah no worries. I checked the advanced statistics and saw your search terms. Here's a link to the results. LOL, hope it doesn't go haywire this time.

'Ello Nibbles. First, let me start off by saying that no question is dumb. The mere fact that someone asks for information should say they have at least a slight interest, and therefore is only beneficial. With that said, let us move on to your questions.

i gotta let the plant grow a little in a cup first right?

This practice is frequently called "germination" amongst the grower population. Germination is the stage in which the seed is beginning its life by cracking its' seed and beginning to form a root system as it sprouts from the ground.

As for methods, there are many ways. One is to get a glass of water, drop the seeds in, and store it in a dark place for a week or so. The seeds that sink have a good chance of germinating. Another method, and my preferred method, is to dampen a few paper towels, placing the seeds in between, and putting them in either Tupperware or a plastic baggie for a week. The seeds that want to sprout will show themselves to you.

if i dont have fertilizer, am i screwed?

No. MJ plants survived for thousands of years with nothing but what Mother Earth gave them. It is, however, HIGHLY advisable that you purchase a three-part (Micro, Veg, Bloom) hydroponic nutrient solution, even if you're growing in soil.

and can some one give me a pic of a male, and female?
