Question Ummm, which way do the seeds go in?

I read last night that the pointy side of the seed goes up. But I planted them down on Sunday. After reading about it, I pulled the seeds out and 6 out of 10 had started to sprout. So, I placed them back in with the sprouts pointing up. I am using Jiffy-7 peat pellets BTW.

This morning I woke up and one of the sprouts had broken the surface about 1/4 inch. But it was not sticking straight up. It was laying over on its side as if it were trying to get back in the soil.

Should I switch them back to sprout down? I'm pretty confused at the moment. Good thing I used some free seeds as a trial before I used my Feminized Mazars. lol

if its only sprouting from one end, its more likely that its the root first, which is why its trying to get back in the soil. if it doesnt turn green, its the root. put it back upside down. or right side up, really.

Yeah, it was the taproot. They all were trying to get back into the soil. I put them back in the right way very carefully with tweezers without touching the root.

Its amazing how fast they grow. The taproot grew about 1 inch yesterday. Oh, and now 8 out of 10 have sprouted. Now I'm just waiting for them to break the surface.

Talking

yip, taproot facing down, the shell provides a bit of cover, helping to protect it as it pushes it's way through the soil.....and when it surfaces, the plant will rid it'self of the seed shell...........Peace out.......Sid

Just for reference. It doesn't matter which way you place the seed into the soil. It knows which was to go..
