Re: Keep It Simple Stoner: How to Get Results Like the Pros

What kinda of a ph/ec/tds meter do you use? do you do waterproof? el cheapo? all in one like a Hanna?

I am going to be using this method with hempy bucket style. I plan on using a perlite vermiculite mix. and Rapid Rooters to get everything started. I am going to make my own cloner dome if necassary. To keep humidity in. But once summer sets in I won't need one I am sure. I will probably need a dehumidifier. I will cross that bridge when it comes. I am already taking a look at mini-split ac unit to cool and heat my man cave during the extremes.

I am glad I have been doing some planning. I have saved myself over $500 thus far from not jumping into an order. I am lastly needing a bulb, which I am putting off because I don't need it for a few months at least. So I can finish everything in my cab and get things started before I ever need to switch on the flowering light. And I need a ph meter. I have a ph kit coming but its only the test strips. I don't really know if I need a tds meter but from what I am reading I do.

I've had horrible luck with electronic meters. Never could afford a good $200 one.
I use the $7 pH drops kit from General Hydroponics. More than accurate enough for general cannabis growing.
As far as a tds/ppm meter, I actually don't use those. I'm still on the simple Lucas method of fill the res, top off with RO and then changeout it out. I don't measure TDS or PPM at all.
Hell, I've even pulled off a successful grow WITHOUT checking pH. Just changed the level in the res to suit the mood of the plant

Congrats I've seen way too much waste over the years. Glad you saved yourself

Here's a pic of a bud grown by myself without a pH meter. The hairs are still 100% white as I had to pull early due to unexpected company. (Hence the reason I built a new stealth cab)

Re: Keep It Simple Stoner: How to Get Results Like the Pros

" Vegging is as simple as 5-7ml per gallon of FloraNova Grow formula(FNG).
Bloom is as simple as exactly 8ml per gallon of FloraNova Bloom formula(FNB).

When using with the soil you've created, superb results can be obtained by diluting the mixed nutrient solution you're using to 1/3rd strength. "

So you are saying 1.2 - 2.0 ml FNG per 1 gallon of water if you are watering with nutes every time and the regular 5 - 7 ml per gallon if you are nuting every other week with straight ro water in between?

I purchased the flora nova grow and it says 1 tsp / gal during early growth but it doesn't say wether or not that is @ every feeding. I am guessing that it is for every feeding. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have some outside plants that I added coco cuire for moisture retention and I am afraid i have put too much in. They are in 25 gallon pots and would be a pain but I think I am going to have to remove them and amend the soil somewhat. I am not happy with their progress. They have only gained 4 inches in the past couple weeks for a total of a foot and a half. I was thinking of using straight ocean ( fox farms ) to amend with because it is so much dryer.

I am letting 4 days go by between waterings but am afraid even this isn't long enough. I am thinking that the bottom 1/3 of these pots are staying too moist. Very hard to tell. There are no signs of overwatering but pots stay heavyer than they should.

What are your thoughts should I just wait it out for the roots to get down there or do something about it now? I would like to have the better controll that a more frequent dry out cycle affords. Being here in cali. they are right on the patio in the back yard so it isn't like i have to haul the water.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ohh yea - I have also made a couple of 25 gallon organic pots.
Am waiting till end of year to see which I like better as I have never tried to grow organic before.
