germinating seeds??

hey guys. Maybe im just being a bit paranoid here, but I left my babies germinating in a room where the temp dropped probaly to the low 60's, for probaly 2 nights, you think that will affect them? its been like 3 days, maybe more and none have sprouted. I had a perfect 5/5 sprout rate last time with these seeds. it was a 10 pack. ive since moved them to a room with a steady 76 temp. hoping the semi warmth will put some life back into them. I also had to add summore water because the paper towels were all dry.

I don't think thats cool enough to effect your seeds, Itl have to be alot more extreme to be worried.

You do have the seeds in an air-tight container right??

Just keep them indoors where the temps don't get so low. Keep them on top of your fridge or on your cable box or something else that emits heat.

yeah, kickass, so they're good? i put em on top of my light right now, its not super hot, and its above the wind from my fan, so it should be semi warm there.

Were the seeds fresh?

If they were a bit old, it can take as long as 2 weeks to see if they germ or not.

okay ^ wheew.... that eases my mind a bit... yah, they're a bit old, they've been sitting in an attic, in the tiny case they came in, wrapped in a plastic baggie... so yeah... thier a good 6 months to a yr old... so bomb, i guess ill just wait patiently, because i did have a 5/5 sprout before... so theres no way im going 0/5 this time!

I'm thinking that your seeds have possibly dried out and are useless. Time will tell tho....

The cold temps could have caused it to slow germination, seedlings love a little bit of heat. I usually germ anywhere from 75-80 and have 100% germination rate when introducing a seedling heat mat to the equation.

I've had a seed take upwards of a week to germ, but never any longer.

What did the seeds look like before?
Have the swelled at all since being put into paper towels?
Were they light or dark in color?
Were they round and robust or on the smaller side?

All of these things could affect germination.

the seeds all look healthy, some definetly do look a big bigger than before they started germ. best of all!! FIRST ROOT TIP!!! it sprouted good overnight i guess, so 1/5 so far, its too bad, the root grew a bit too much and got a curved thing goin.... i had to put it in a red cup with some soil n what not, couldnt get it straight down... but, better sideways than to fuck with it! so its covered and waiting to sprout some greeny leafs and stem!
