Oh, i thought you meant compost.

It will smell, but this depends on strain, how many you have, ventilation, ect.

Like anony said, depends on strain. Almost all will reek while drying. The sweet tooth I was growing had almost 0 smell during veg and flower, but as soon as I cut it down, it reeked up the whole house when I brought it out of the grow room.

i had 1 plant in a closet and it didn't smell until maybe 2 weeks into 12/12. my room smelled very very nice, and it stunk up my whole upstairs. down stairs there wasn't any noticible smell, but maybe it was just me that couldn't smell it. but upstairs consisted of 3 bedrooms, a large open halway, and a large bathroom. half way up the stairs it just hit you with the most chron smell ever.

Like doob said, get the right sized/type of fan and scrubber and use a speed controller so as the smell increases you can increase the air flow.

And dont skimp on this one, bigger really can be better but louder too.

Well do you think that it would smell stronger than cat piss and shit?
I'm growin in a basement that has had a cat pissin everywhere down there for like 3 years and hasnt been cleaned.

Also, how exactly do you vent a whole room? I'm planning on growing in the shower (theres a closed bathroom in here) and I don't exactly know where to put a fan and carbond filter. I could possibly pu it in the door or cut a hole in a wall i guess... but if theres anything else I could possibly do to reduce smell I would love for somebody to expain.

Thanks for all your help though everyone

You will really need to read some and devise a plan because we don't know your room temps and lighting, you will prolly want an intake hole low with a ducted fan as far towards the exhaust end as possible,if runnin HIDs you can run the filter through some duct into the lights and out the top to the fan which will draw air from the lower hole you make bringing cool air rich in co2 into the room and through the filter (scrubbing smell) and then cooling the light and out the top.

If you don't use HIDs just skip ducting the light but if your basement temps are over 70F. W/O growing and you run HIDs i would suggest ducting your HID.

Then just a fan a filter and some ducting should work well.
Do a bit of reading on your room size and figure your fan/filter sizes with your budget.
