Female seeds?

I want to grow my own weed for many reasons. Mostly because my dealer is unreliable. I figure growing it myself would be safe because I don't plan to sell it so I don't think I will get caught. Anyways, I have read that only female produce buds. So I wonder if there is anyway to buy just female seeds? Or if not possible to buy just females, is it possible to tell male and female apart?

you can buy femenized seeds wich have a higher chance of being females, but you have to wait until the plant begins to flower, generally a week or so in I believe before it shows sex...
