Question about flowering and veg nutes

So me and my buddy are going to start growing here once everything we are waiting on comes in. "Everything" includes:

400w HPS light/balast
400w MH conversion
Reflector
Seeds (A.M.S Fem)

My closet looks like it was basically designed for a small (2-3 grown plants) grow. Now, my closet is only about 5 feet tall from bottom to top and obviously I cant have the plants growing anywhere over about 3-3.5ft. So my question is, if we want to start flowering while the plants are still fairly short, would we even need veg nutes? I've read that you really dont need any nutes until maybe 10 days, and if we are going to be flowering at around 30 days, would this make the veging nutes pointless? We do plan on picking up some flowering nutrients, though. Any thoughts/suggestions?

BTW, we plan on using MG organic mixed with a bag of perlite.

Most people dont recommend veg nutes until at least 3 weeks in, pointless? I am not so suer.

Nute 3-4 weeks is the norm. I use 20-20-20 for veg and I will be using 10-30-10 for flowering.
