What is everyone's opinion on the best time to induce flowering? I'm on my third grow, and the past two times, i let my plants veg until the branches were no longer growing symmetrically (natural end of veg cycle), and they were beginning to show sex.

My previous grows yielded tall lanky plants. This grow has gone pretty well, and my plants have much tighter nodes, and the branch spacing is much more compact.

I've read in grampa's grow guide that inducing flowering for a SOG grow when the plants are around a foot tall is ok, but I've also read that flowering them before they are ready can cause a lot of stress to the plant..

Opinions? Experiences?

Force flower at 16-20 inches for me. Worked great you could see flower development after 3 days of 12/12.

Is it possible to veg for a lot longer? ie, when the plants around 3/4 feet in height? Indoor grow, with JH strain?

If you veg your plants to 3-4 feet Your lookin at 8-12 feet before flowering is finished. Even if you tied it down it aint gonna happen indoors.

i think that depends on the strain though doesn't it comrade? i've veged my plants to 4 or 5 feet and then flowered them, and they didn't grow much more. then again, i let them veg until the plants had finished their natural cycle. the growth was very random, pre-flowers were abundant, and they kept telling me "go 12/12, go 12/12"

disclaimer: i only have two grows under my belt. while that does provide some experience, i still have mountains to learn...
