Germination questions.

I have 5 seeds for a small outdoor grow. I'm going to plant them on friday. Should I begin germinating now? Is it possible to "overgerminate" (germinate for too long)? What germination medium should I use for outdoor growing? Thanks.

You should start reading so the plant doesnt overgrow your knowledge.
Yes, you can over germinate, you wont know how long that takes so youll have to guess. I would say today is a good day to start the process.
Usually takes a few days to be ready to plant. You dont want the tap root soo long that the seed is starting to release the cotelydons (spelling) before planting. 1/2 an inch is about average.

Well, I'm not exactly a professional on the matter but this year I have a 100% success rate with seeds germinating (using about 20 seeds) and my opinion is that you should plant it as soon as you see a root forming. The sooner it gets used to your soil, and not a paper towel, the better. The point of pre-germing is to make sure the water penetrates and triggers the process, whereas without pre-germing you can't really monitor moisture as well and it will never stay as well moisturized.

I've read dozens of books and guides, however germination is not mentioned often and I wanted human input.

Should I plant them in a peat pot now, or should I continue germinating in a paper towel? Root hasn't really come out yet, wondering which one is a better medium to start in.
