Windowsill or CFL?

I have a 23W CFL and I was wondering if its better to put freshly sprouted plants under my CFL until they get bigger or keep them in the window sill? Would they grow better in the windowsill with real sunlight or under my CFL?

I had a batch of plants die already this year due to soil that was no good (it held moisture way to long and to clumpy) and they were in my windowsill and under the CFL.

windowsill is only so good for so long
i find its great for starters though, but if you could do both that would be for the best

aside from making sure you have decent soil, i find (an almost) bigger factor is the size of the pot itself, which limits the expansion of the roots eventually.

I don't bother with anything smaller than 6" pots now.

CFL's all the way. THe sunlight doesn't go through windows enough to properly light your plants. You'll end up with stretchy plants and a loss of yield. Just grab a couple of CFLs and put your plants under them the whole time. Those produce enough light and you'll get a MUCH better grow!

Theyve been in the windowsill for a few days now wouldnt the increased heat and different light spectrum stress the plants? the plants are used to 16-20 degree weather if I put them under my CFL it will be around 25-28 celcius.

put them under your cfl mate,plus your temps aint too much of an issue, a little fan blowing gently around them not only too cool them but strengthen they stems up

Im just starting the plants I wasnt going to try and grow a plant in my window its whole life. Is the CFL still better before it goes outdoor in the real world?
