What does "Grams per Square Meter" refer too?

Hey guys. I never found out what it means when a seedbank says a certain strain will produce 500 grams of weed per square meter. Would this require multiple plants in one pot or anything similar? I dont understand the "square meter" part of it. Thanks tons guys!

It means that under optimum conditions you can get 500 grams of weed for every square meter of growing space. Which means they figure if you do everything perfect, you get a little more than a pound of weed.

I say take these claims with a grain of salt.

Oh ok that does make sense. So one plant CAN make 500 grams of weed [if done properly]. I dont want to make a new thread for this btw, but how much Fluro wattage would i need for 6 plants in vegetation? Also, how much HPS wattage would i need for 6 plants in flowering? Thanks man!

im not sure, but think that with ~600W mh for veg. will be enough for 6 plants. mh and hps lights have much more lumens, than cfl.
in many instructions was said, that for one plant, min needs ~50W. im growing 2plants with 120w cfl. but think that i need a lil bit more cfls

No one plant can not make 500 grams. As mycroft said it is per meter squared of groing, which means if you have plants arranged in a 1 meter by 1 meter square, under optimum conditions, you will get a 500 gram yield. Optimum conditions includes, plenty of light, right temperature, co2, proper humidity, prober ferts and nutrition. The yeilds are really just figures to tell you if you'll get a bit more growing different kinds, they dont figure in anything like light schedules, how long you keep it in veg and that sort of thing.

I was confused by this when i first started looking at seeds, and again like mycroft said its just used as a benchmark to compare outputs of different strains so take it with a grain of salt.

take it with 2 or 3 grains of salt lol, ive found the amount can vary from site to site (coming from same genetics and seedbank) Mainly its just used as a benchmark as said above, and should only be used for this imo

im pretty sure g/m2 means that in a sog or scrog setup in a one meter square produces the average yield for the given strain

Hey guys... just browsing but I've grown 1lb indoor plants. Not hard at all but very long veg at 3 months. You will need to FIM and pinch as well as clearing and cleaning the bottom half of the plant as the overall result will be SOG in a 3x3 chamber like mine. This way growth is focused on the top while constantly staying short and wide. A bit much to get into on this thread but hit me up if you wanna give it a try.
