1st time grower, please help!

first of all, i just wanna say, im sooo glad i found this site. i know i will find answers to the questions i have.

ok, a friend and i are gonna start our first grow sometime in the next few months. we're waiting to get our own place together so we can do it indoor. ive learned alot so far just by sitting here. ive spent an hour and a half just reading threads, haha. but i still have a few questions.

1a - where do i get seeds from? (paradise-seeds.com got my mouth watering and i really wanna find some 'nebula' or some 'amsterdam flame' seeds)
b - will it be hard to find seeds like that?

2a - what is indica?
b - what is sativa?

For your first grow I would recommend just finding the seeds out of bags... as I did.

Got alot of kush seeds. :P

Indica and sativa are just different strands.

I am not very experienced in growing but these were simple questions. Wait for a reply from someone else if you don't wanna hunt for bagseed... (Less expensive though.. and you get to smoke some weed!)

welll for seed sites, assuming you live in the US, just look on the seedbank forum and you should find a couple of places that ship to the US,

as for satvia and indica

Fat Leaves and Short Bush = INDICA
Thin Leaves and Tall Bush = SATIVA
Indica....higher CBD than THC equals heavier, sleepy type of high. Yield is usually higher than Sativa, and shorter growing season. Better for indoor growing, because they don't get as tall.
Sativa....higher THC than CBD equals cerebral, soaring type of high, more energetic Yield is usually lower than Indica, but is very potent. eg: Thai Sativa grow taller and have a longer flowering period, so they are better suited for outdoors.
Sativa's typically take longer to germinate and flower, and they grow more gangly then indica breeds.

indica are more of a heavy stone(couchlock stone) whereas sativas are more celebral ,uplifting highs.(still get things done)

yeh go for indica for 1st grow ,more forgiving ,as for seeds its really upto you if you buy from seedbank or use bagseeds...............i'd go for seedbank as plenty strains which are cheap & easy to grow mate.

good luck with your grow.. as the others suggested your probably better off trying some bagseeds first.

but i have another question: how safe are these seed banks? im just having trouble trusting them. some of the ones august west showed me look pretty trustworthy, but i just have to ask. is it legal to sell seeds? whats the worst that could happen?

First off, if seedbanks didn't work then how do you think that we growers here get our seeds? The whole point of the seedbank forum is so that you can see the names of banks we growers use, and we wouldn't use them and recommend them if they didn't work!

As for legality, it is illegal for you to have viable (that means will-grow-into-a-plant) seeds in the US. There is nothing at all illegal about you ordering them from somewhere else, but once you have them in the US it's against the law. The worst that would happen is that customs would find the seeds, and then send you a letter saying that some mail for you didn't get through customs. Not a big deal. Plus, good seedbanks will work with you if something like that happens.

sorry, i meant to say i didnt trust how the websites looked. and i asumed they didnt deliver in the US, like i was asking if there was anywhere in the us i could order from. thats why i was wondering if it was illegal. but i guess i should have done more researh.

so anyone have any links to get sites? my friend told me some good sites but more suggestions would be nice

No, there are not any in the US. Check the seed bank sticky. Lots of sites there. Yes some will ship to the US. It's not a big deal. BKKG is right about customs. They are not going to kick in your door for a few beans. You will get a letter if you are 1 of the 1% that got them confiscated.
