Would Roommates Be Charged

Would roommates of a person growing weed in a apartment get charged, if it was hidden in the growers room. I live in IL and was wondering if anyone knows first hand or knows the laws surrounding it. I searched for it because im sure its been asked but the search feature on grasscity never gives me what im looking for.

I'm not a lawyer, but i think it depends on the cops and if you claim responsibility for the grow. My advice is to tell your roommates what you are planning on doing since they live there too. Everyone in the house can possibly be at risk if you get busted. I also doubt that you will be able to hide it from them for very long. Be honest with them and if they have a problem with it you either need to grow outside somewhere or wait untill you have your own place and/or roommates that are cool with you growing.

I know IL law firsthand and have been in my share of drug raids and crazy situations... and from my experince the Lease Holder(s) is/are liable..so if their listed on the lease im sure cops wont have problem giving everyone their equal share...Your best bet is to get a door or grow room lock and if busted have your roommates say they didnt have any knowledge of what was taking placing behind that locked door..

They'll charge everyone and then threaten to lock all you up...but then they will offer you a deal.."you plead guilty and we'll drop the charges against your friends" and because its your bad you would take the deal and the D.A. gets a conviction without ever going to trial.
