I have not used one, however without forcing the air to flow across the carbon scrubber before venting, I do not believe it would be very effective.

I use ONA (odor neutralizing agent) along with a little DIY bucket/fan that circulates it nicely. It works great for me, and unless you have a large carbon filter attached directly to an exhaust, I think the only thing better than the ONA bucket would be ozone (my grow space also has no ducting and the bucket was a good solution). Search the forums for 'perfect odor neutralizer' for instructions.
hope that helps

You get both the 6" GOBLIN Activated Carbon Filter and a matching 6" GrowBright 424cfm Inline Fan.

You stick the carbon filter in the grow room, the fan sucks air through it. Its simple. I have no idea why "it wouldn't be very effective" like no-more is saying, it would work just fine.

Because it is going to be hanging from the ceiling, and you'd be hoping ALL the air in your grow room passes through that single fan. I didn't realize it came with an inline fan.... but still I don't believe it would get the job done. If the inline fan was attached to ducting, or even just placed near a specified exhaust exit, then it will work better.... but even overall, I don't think a small carbon scrubber can get the job done unless you have 1 - 2 plants with little odor, like a small grow box. or maybe if you put 3 little scrubbers in a row That fan you mention is an inline DUCT fan. The only reliable carbon scrubbers I've seen are much longer than 6" and have ducting to make sure ALL the air passes through the filter before exiting.

Both mine and 420lover's grow has no ducting or specific intake/exhaust sites. Rather than hoping all the air is blown through a hanging fan. The ONA setup uses a fan to spread the product throughout the entire grow room. It then attaches to the existing odor molecules to create a completely different odor. It doesn't mask odor, and I would rather neutralize the smell personally... as I would not want to rely on any filter really to completely REMOVE all that weed smell. Especially not in my grow location.

"" For example, if your growing area is 8 feet long by 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall, it contains a total of 512 cubic feet. To treat this area in five minutes, you would need to use a fan with a CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating of approximately 102. The GrowBright fan that comes with this system is rated at 424 cfm so this combo is good for any small to medium sized grow room! It's always better to have a little more filtering than a little less for the most effective results. ""

Unless hes growing in a warehouse he should be just fine.

eyec0n i'm not trying to argue with you, so I don't want you to feel that way....

Just because it blows out that much air, doesn't mean its going to have all the air in the room pass through it. Also it seems you are growing in a small set-up with CFLs, not like an open closet set-up. Read the post on the DIY ONA "perfect odor neutralizer". People are excited about it because it works, probably better than most carbon filters, and especially in an open space grow area (no intake/exhaust/ducting). If the fan hangs from the ceiling, and the smell is escaping from under a door... then it would not be effective for this specific situation.

Also, the FAN is rated at 424 cfm... sure you can pass lots of air through the fan, but it could be recirculating air in the same place, and passing air through a small carbon filter at that rate is just a guess.... the filter has no rating as to how many times the air needs scrubbed to rid odor.

I agree, better to have more filtering than less, but odor neutralizing is a method free of filters.

edit: I just realized that you were quoting the ebay advertisement. Did you know you can also get 15-20 extra horse power out of your vehicle with a 10 dollar resistor? =)

420 is looking for someone who has used this setup to prove what ebay says...

Wrong. Hows about we actually read the thread instead of looking at the first picture and trying to knock my cfl setup? I've stated many times its been moved into an OPEN CLOSET. Next, HTGSupply is a trusted seller, I doubt they would soil their reputation by giving bullshit ratings on items.

Also 420lover, how about some pictures before some of us start assuming we know what each others grow room looks like.

I don't know what you guys are tripping about, answer the guys question. Yes those work just fine.
If need be you can DIY a carbon filter and they still work pretty well. Thats a pretty powerfull fan, how many watts will you be running/plants etc?
