Anybody tried these? Carbon scrubbers
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...:B:DBS:US:1123
Has anybody tried these? If so how do they work. I have no sorce of ducting out so it will just hang from the ceiling. Thanks guys |

I use ONA (odor neutralizing agent) along with a little DIY bucket/fan that circulates it nicely. It works great for me, and unless you have a large carbon filter attached directly to an exhaust, I think the only thing better than the ONA bucket would be ozone (my grow space also has no ducting and the bucket was a good solution). Search the forums for 'perfect odor neutralizer' for instructions. hope that helps ![]() |

You get both the 6" GOBLIN Activated Carbon Filter and a matching 6" GrowBright 424cfm Inline Fan.
You stick the carbon filter in the grow room, the fan sucks air through it. Its simple. I have no idea why "it wouldn't be very effective" like no-more is saying, it would work just fine.

"" For example, if your growing area is 8 feet long by 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall, it contains a total of 512 cubic feet. To treat this area in five minutes, you would need to use a fan with a CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating of approximately 102. The GrowBright fan that comes with this system is rated at 424 cfm so this combo is good for any small to medium sized grow room! It's always better to have a little more filtering than a little less for the most effective results. ""
Unless hes growing in a warehouse he should be just fine.

eyec0n i'm not trying to argue with you, so I don't want you to feel that way....
Just because it blows out that much air, doesn't mean its going to have all the air in the room pass through it. Also it seems you are growing in a small set-up with CFLs, not like an open closet set-up. Read the post on the DIY ONA "perfect odor neutralizer". People are excited about it because it works, probably better than most carbon filters, and especially in an open space grow area (no intake/exhaust/ducting). If the fan hangs from the ceiling, and the smell is escaping from under a door... then it would not be effective for this specific situation. Also, the FAN is rated at 424 cfm... sure you can pass lots of air through the fan, but it could be recirculating air in the same place, and passing air through a small carbon filter at that rate is just a guess.... the filter has no rating as to how many times the air needs scrubbed to rid odor. I agree, better to have more filtering than less, but odor neutralizing is a method free of filters. edit: I just realized that you were quoting the ebay advertisement. Did you know you can also get 15-20 extra horse power out of your vehicle with a 10 dollar resistor? =) 420 is looking for someone who has used this setup to prove what ebay says... Also 420lover, how about some pictures before some of us start assuming we know what each others grow room looks like.

I don't know what you guys are tripping about, answer the guys question. Yes those work just fine.
If need be you can DIY a carbon filter and they still work pretty well. Thats a pretty powerfull fan, how many watts will you be running/plants etc?
