CFL's in the UK

Why are CFL's with a good wattage so hard to find cheap in the UK? I hear of you lucky people in the US getting decent ones for around $5-$10 each, but after being unsuccessful in finding them in the shops and looking on the web, the only ones i could find for UK voltage with a decent wattage were around £20! ($40)

The ones i have at the moment are 4x 20w CFL's for 99p each (about $2) but they were the highest watt i could find, and i'm sure my plants wont enjoy living their whole life under those puny things. If anybody knows where in the UK i can find good CFL's for a reasonable price, please let me know!

Hey mate, thanks for the link, Do you think it would be better value to get the 85watt? I'm a little worried about size but it will save money.

try ebay man... i found 125 watts for 14.95 on ebayuk... and also even if you only have low wattage bulbs if you have enough of them all round the plant it should work fine too....

house lighting cfl,s are usefull for clones ,seeds but vegging ,growing are pretty much useless unless you get a proper cfl light from a hydro store or as nenu says e-bay.

fluros are useless for growing bud mate(which these house cfls basically are)

get proper lights you'll benefit no end

That's my setup there, it's a pc case grow so HPS isn't an option. I have now split the plants up. Two in one box, two in the other, both with 4x 20w CFL's so 40w per plant ( possibly the BARE minimum ) And space is very limited.

motorheed i am afraid i totally disagree with you on the cfl issue.. i've been growing for a year now and the highest cfl i have in my grow closet is 23 watts and i've grown some great bud man... the secret is positioning the lights all over the plant and not just on top.. good luck anzy... happy growing dude its great fun..
