Its about 2 feet away is...

My light (125 watt Daylight CFL) is about 2 feet away from my 3 sprouts who just came thorugh the soil. Is this okay. I had to move the light the farther away because my grow box is not that tall and I already have a Lowryder that is on Day 54 in there also and the light was only an inch away from the top of the plant and burning out the top. Also could somebody tell me how to add nitrogen to the soil. I got some yellowing for my big one.

Not really. Your sprouts will stretch like crazy in an attempt to reach the light. For optimal growth you need to keep the light within a few inches of the seedlings.

I see. Rather than lowering the light, have you considered raising the seedlings up to the light by putting a box/books/stool or somesuch underneath them?

Get thee to a garden centre and purchase thineself some fertiliser (plant food) suitable for growth (as opposed to flower).

Good call. Also any special type of plant food? Any recommendations? I just added some more Miracle Grow Soil to the top to get some more nutrients in there but thats all I can do so far until I get out to a store.

How old are your sprouts? I'm new at this, I have three sprouts and they are 2 weeks old. Doing well so far. I have read that you don't start feeding them plant food until they are about 4 weeks old. Could be wrong though. Is there anyone out there that slowly introduces plant food that early and had good results?

I start feeding mine at about two weeks at about 1/4 strength in seedling starter soil

keep your lights as close as you can, put your hand a few inches under it, if it doesnt burn you it will not burn your plants
