CFL photorton grow

Ok guys I started reading thru all the info on this site after I purchased the Phototron 9000 . Alot larger than the original. 36,000 lumens for the total unit using there cfl top lights in a blue spectrum.

I decided to take the knowledge form all of you and modify the top lights in the unit. Instead of two blue spectrum blubs = 150 watt equvilent...I used four 100 watt blue bulbs and suspended them and will keep close during growing. For flower I have 4 150 watt red spectrum bulbs.

I'm not sure if I'm lucky or good. I planted four bag weed seeds from most likly a hermie. 2 out of four sprouted and at day 20 I'm on the 7th leaf set with lateral shoot growth. Let me know what you think.

By the way the unit cost $550 complete. Not as bad as most people think.

how tall

The cab has 30 inchs from soil to safe distance from lights when hung all the way up. I was thinking no more than 16 inchs then switch to 12/12. I may go earlier if my good seeds come in soon. Use this grow as a test. I'd like to harvest for X-mas . It may be light but good learning expierence.

P.s the feed a tron watering system is awsome. Had some overwater issues in the cups. No more in three days they have been transplanted they have gone crazy.

Thanks for the reply. Stay tuned.

Hey guy's also have a question about temps. I have been working my ass off trying to keep tron temps @ 90degrees. room size 4x8 concrete walls on three sides in basement. The tron has two computer fans on a side panel. I find room temp 74 degrees equals tron temp 92-94 degrees. Is this too hot?

That Phototron is one nifty gadget!

Does it have an exhaust on top with intakes on the bottom?

Those temps seem a tad on the high side to me (a novice grower)

ok

Thanks I'll work on the bigger fans asap.
The instructions for the tron said 85-95 was optimium. The upper fan is the exhaust and the lower in intake. I can also make another set up with the panel I replaced for the one with the fans. The cooling panel was part of the package but not with just the phototron. So we have an extra panel to work with. I'll add two more in that one and slide it in the other side of the exsisting fan panel.
Thanks again I'll get those temps down. Oh by the way the temp senor in right down low with the plants. I guess that is good for now but may have to move it up with the canopy.

Wow I have not seen a "Tron" in years I can't belive Jeff is still at it.....are the mounts still on the back to put several of the together in a round "Pod" like form?

Jeff donated several of the "Original Phototron" (Back in 1989)to an organization I was involved with we built them (4 or 5 I can't remember)on a "Lazy Susan"set-up to make a "Wheelchair accessable" Grow - Opp....for a friend of our with CP

no mounts

I don't believe it has any of that kind of mount. What i did get was a dolly the tron sits on and lets you spin the tron to work on any panel with out moving yourself. A time saver.

day 21

Man these girls are going great. Notice the size difference.

Ok a couple of things: Because all the action is way down low.(plants and lights) the temp at plant level were hot. I turned the panel upside down so that the exhaust fan is more plant level and the intake is light level. Closed up the tron and will be tested this setup.

Thanks

Thanks eyes, I had a total of ten or so seeds from that bud. I gave 6 to a friend who has those flowering now. 4 out of 6 germinated and all four are female. So that may be real good for me. He had no light to start6 weeks into veg and real skinny and streatched to the max. He got himself a mh/mps 400 watt light and man did they fill out. He's way too laid back. "it'll be fine" that's him in a nutshell. His plants were two feet tall at the seventh leaf set. Thanks for the input.

here is a pic of his girls

Your intake fan should be low and you exhaust fan high because heat rises...

Your plants to indeed look great though, good job!
