CFL Question

Hokeh folks, humor my ignorance.

So i want to use CFL's because i haven't the cash to use the other stuff, nor the real desire to drill holes in my closet for venting. So i did some reading up on CFL and i realize i need to purchase both the soft white (2500k) and daytime (6500k).

Now i know during flowering the soft white is very important but my question is until flowering is there any benefit from having a soft white. I was considering grabbing two daytimes today and grab the soft white at my leisure (so long as its before flowering).

However if soft white can help the plant grow during veg in ways the daytime can't it'd be best to purchase those as well and have both types going immedaitly.

Thoughts?

you should have some kind of venting, new air in and the old out also air movment/fans.
you can use just the daylights for veg, but they would like a bit of softwhite too
and you can use some daylights for flower too they can use that
here are the bulbs most have been trying

I've grown four plants in my closet with 4x 2700k 42w CFL's ...

It is definitely possible to veg with lower lumens, it will just take longer.

I do have a fan and simple venting as its going to be two three plants so not a major thing. I just dont want to deal with heavy venting for the heat as its in my closet.

Anyhow i just purchased one daylight bulb for now (seeds are still germing) and over the next few days i'll grab another daylight and a soft white over the next few days. I think it might be good to get two more daylights as four lights for two-three plants would be better...

I currently veg in a small closet 1 light per plant with reflectors I got from home depot cost about $10 for each clamp light and 6500k bulb and I get good results during veg

you will slowly have to add more bulbs the bigger your plants get

first i started with 4x23w cool white (no daylights ANYWHERE here)

by the time it was all said and done, i ended up with
4x23w cool white
1x23w warm white
2x40w warm white
2x53w cool white

and that was for 2 plants... remember the goal is 100w/plant (ACTUAL watts, not Incandescent equivelent)

you can get Y adaptors for your light bulbs... if you pick up 3 of them (about $2 each) you can turn a 1 fixture light into a 4 fixure light...

pick up a cheap clamp lamp for $10 as suggested before, and get 3 more y adaptors and you've got another 4 fixture light... 8 bulbs total

you can also get adapters that the bulbs screw into then plug right into a household extension cord...

but the reflectors are so much better to get as many lumens out of the bulbs as you can and the small ones are ridiculously cheap

hey Baron how's school going!!, I did it the same way as Baron did!!
I ended up with (in my fridge grow room)
4-42w coolwhites
2-26w daylights
4-23w coolwhites
2- 9w daylights
Im doing 8 plants but I'm not trying to grow them big just a constant supply(every 2 weeks I should get 1/2-1oz)

try useing these and hook a cord to it ,its easy to do!
