Here is my setup, HELP!!!

Hello. Im new to the “grow op” scene. I have been reading the FAQ’s and the stickied guides to growing. I will be following Grandpa’s grow guide for my first venture, using the SOG setup. I wanted to run my setup by the “city” and hopefully get some advice and tips to better improve my first harvest.

The Space:
43”x20” hall closet, white/off-white walls
Full lattice(vented) door
Medium thick, black cloth to cover door to block any and all light

Plant stuff:
Bag Seeds
Jack’s Classic: Orchid Special, Superthrive(in the mail)
Standard potting soil
Peat pots x8

Equipment:
Florescent bulb
HPS bulb(in the mail)
Standard workshop lamp
Need air extractor(if someone could tell me best place to shop these)

I haven’t decided which germination process I will follow, Stylez1877’s Germination 420 or Grandpa’s Grow Guide process. I do have a few questions. Concerning pH and EC, what the best way to measure these, without spending an ass load of money. Also, what is pH adjusted water?
