new to growing

ive searched but i didnt get anything. i want to start growing like 4 plants at the most but i have a couple questions real quick:

1. its september and its starting to get a little chilly out and eventually cold like everyone knows. i just want to know that its not a good idea to grow outside in the winter is it??

2. how big of a difference is there between growing outside and growing inside? my friend told me that bud grown outside is crap compared to bud grown inside

3. this is kinda dumb question but how bad will it smell if i were to grow indoors. im thinking it will smell of weed really bad but i just want to make sure.

thanks any help is appreciated

1. Yes, it is probably too late to try growing outside this season anywhere in the Northern Hemishere. If the cold doesn't kill the plant(s) there won't be sufficient light to develop many bud sites.

2. Your friend is full of crap.

3. The smell really depends on the strain and also what stage of development the plant is in. Flowering plants will smell stronger than vegetating. I have two plants growing in my box and I'm venting the air directly into the house. Except for a few minutes right after the lights and fan turn on, you couldn't tell there was anything growing inside just by the smell. Of course I could have gotten gradually used to the scent, or my sense of smell may have (probably has) gotten worse over time.

Exclamation

it is definately to late to start a grow outside. so definately do it inside. it will smell but i can be controlled with air movement and ventilation. two really cheap ways to eliminate smell is if you make your own carbon filter (30$) or take a bucket and fill it with ona, water, and something that can absorb the liquid (like pearlite, sponges, liquid crystals. ect.) put a fan on the top of it blowing downwards toward the solution and drill alot of holes above the water level on the bucket. this is a really effective cheap way at controlling smell.(cost around 15$.) if theres anything else you need help with just ask. good luck
Ps. your friend told you wrong.

As stated, wrong time of year to start an outdoor grow in the northern hemisphere, assuming you are not in the tropics.

Outdoor bud is not crap categorically.

As said it does depend on strain but you need to plan on it being pretty stinky. Search the site for words like "carbon", "scrubber", and "filter" and you should find some DIY instructions.
