Help please....

First off, I'm a total newbie to growing. I have read alot but don't have the hands on experience. I am having two issues. Let me say that I have only 2 plants and it is a total stealth jobbie so where I have these 2 outside they do not get as much light as one would hope. They get maybe 8 or 9 hrs of direct light and another 4 or 5 of indirect light. They seem to be doing good each day getting a little taller and more full. I have topped them and, again, they responded well. Here is my fist issue: I have been told by other people that they should have started flowering by now as other peoples have. I look very carefully but do not see the white hairs, but I am also not seeing little seed pods. The plants are starting to smell quite good and I was told this is a sign that the flowering is not far off. Any insight into this situation would be very much appreciated. Oh, I also do not have the means to bring them in and force them as I can't really be stealthy about that. If I could, I would.

My second issue is with leafhoppers eating my leaves. It is not too bad but when I check my plants they all go hopping off. Is there something safe I can use on the plant to keep them from eating the leaves or is it a non issue? I was concerned about them draining nutrients.

Thank you for any help you might give.

If your in the usa look for them to begin flowering sometime in September. As for the bugs get something with neem oil and spray very early in the morning or late in the evening.I use garden safe.

September? That seems kinda late. I am not saying you are wrong but if they start in Sept. and have , lets's say a 6 - 8 week flowering cycle, that would put maturity of buds at mid to the end of October. I live in the North half of ME and by then we most likely have seen snow and numerous frosts. I was under the impression that they would start flowering sooner, once the days started to shorten a bit. Thanks for the tip on the bugs. I will hit the garden center. Just want something safe for the plant and safe for me when (if) I get to burn it.

I live in the northeast and it's definitely early right now for flowering. Septemeber is about the right time. You shouldn't have a 6-8 week flowering time, that's too long.

OK. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll test my patience and wait it out. Hope it pays off. Thank you again.
