Trying to maintain the temps in my attic grow. Gets cold during the winter and hot in the summer. I tried using a timer to have my fan come on with my lights, but thatz an idea I did not think out real good (dumb idea).
Them thermostatz seem expensive. Anyone know of a cheap thermostat that can control a fan and a heater?

if one doesnt have temp probs, then no you dont need fans on 24/7, but if u got high temps, then u need the fans. lights on temps need to be 75-78, lights off temps need to drop 5-15 degrees. its all about temps & air cirulation

if your temps change that bad then either hook them to a thermastat or leave them on, or just turn them off & on when needed

the reason for that is, your growing in a attic, & most grow in a more controled enviroment, ex: in a closet, like me, so the a/c keeps my room cooler that a attic, understand

Well right now im jus getting a lil practice with a friend of mine who has a few going as is(15 days into flowering right now). Myself, im only growing tomatoes, but the practice from both sides + forum advice is goin well.

when u lst u loose 1 main cola, & get several. if u dont like those methods, look into supercropping

u could still use a timer, youll just have to keep track of the temps & keep a log & go by that. i got a timer that u can program to turn on/off @ different times day/night & by the day M-S as well.

Theres pros and cons to everything,i have never done it but i plan to.I know watercuring removes alot of the flavor and smell but it also alows the smoker to smoke in public places which air dried buds would not alow.The water bud is smoother to smoke and this curing method is way faster but if not done right can ruin the nugs.Many ppl who dry buds with air also dry with water so they can sample their nugs sooner.

And the depth of the closet is around 17 inches(is this ok for a 250 watt, the curtain is covered by a black velvet that is hard to see through the lights.) it depends on how u do it. watercureing cons are u loose bud weight.

Ok, can I move into your house and grow in your closet? Unless the answer is yes, I will have to grow in the best possible location at my residence. I have a small space heater for the cold winter and the centrifugal fan I have keeps it cool in the summer. I want to maintain my temps even all year. Timer idea sounded good, but was not (rookie mistake on my part). jcj77d thanks for your help but I need someone who knows my problem and can help me. The clichés like "its all about temps & air cirulation" don't seem to help much.

Any experienced growers use a thermostat, good place to buy one, and how do I hook one up.

Hi, I'm hoping you can help me. I just started my first grow and I now know I'm using the wrong soil. The guy at the grow shop sold me some schultz potting soil plus, which feeds for 9 months. I have 2 plants going, one better then the other, except today the leaves just dropped on the good one but its still nice and green. It sprouted above the mud a week ago today. I know I shouldn't transplant for another week or so but shouldn't I try and get them out of this bad mud asap? I was thinking of getting some organic soil and perlite and mixing in a 2 gallon pal and transplant them over trying to remove as much mud from the cup there in, its 3 1/2" x 3". What should I do?
