16 of my 18 seeds germinated after 2 days =]
I put some supposedly high grade soil into some cups, planted my 16 seeds in them, and watered a bit. Is it ok if I store them in a closed paper box or should I allow airflow?
Should I keep on watering them everyday, water them when they're dry, or never water them until I move it into a bigger pot or move it outside?

Great job so far.

You're plants are starting to emerge out of the soil, so they will start needing some light, i wouldn't store them in a paper box, because your plants now need light, and like you said, some fresh airflow too.

water them when they are dry, conditions vary depending on soil, temp, light, humidity, etc... but as long as you water them and let them soak up and dry, and water them again that would be ideal.

in about 3-4 weeks your plant should be ready to transplant!

i hate to admit, but when it comes to the lighting aspect of plants, it's probably one of my greatest weak point in the whole growing odyssey.

i just went out and got 2 flourecent tubes, and I just wanted to make sure I got the correct lights before I rip them apart and set it up:

that would work for 1 plant, but id get @ least 2-3 of them. & yes u can use it for flowering, u just need to use different bulbs. try looking into a 150w hps, that will grow 1-2 plants from start to finish.

u can keep them in a warm dark place until they sprout. u dont need to waer them, just take a spray bottle & spray the soil till is moist, & always keep the top 2" moist, until they sprout, then water as needed

those will work for vegging, (6500k), flowering u need 2700k. & rule of thumb is 50-100w or a mnimum of 3500-5000 lumens per plant

Another thing... I can't afford to use Metal Halide of HPS bulbs, so I have to use fluorescent. Are fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs the same thing? If not, what's the difference? Also, I can't find CFLs in over 30Watts, why? Is are 30W CFLs enough?

they are basicly the same "fluorescent tubes" & "screw in fluorescent" (cfl). its hard to find high watt cfls in stores. try www.1000bulbs.com . the rule of thumb is 50-100w or a minimum of 3500-5000 lumens per plant. so u would need @ least 2-3 30w cfl's per plant.

We're going on a 4 day motorcycle trip this weekend, I think they'll be OK because I've been watering every 4 days or so without any issues that I've noticed. Although a few of my lower large fan leaves are yellowing & dying, but I dont think they're getting much light.....do you think thats the issue or something else possibly?

those look beautiful man, you did a great job raising them.

don't worry about the yellowing leafs at the bottom of the plant, this is very common due to nitrogen deficiency, it usually always happens during the flowering process of a plants life.

what's the difference between cool white, daylight, and sunshine fluorescent lights? which one is recommended in the veg stage? and which one would be recommended in the flowering stage?

still looking good man. that yellowing is somewhat normal, as the plant gets futher in the flowering stage, they begin to use up the nitrogen quickly. u can give them a mild dose of fert w/ N in it.

cool white is usually around 4100k, daylight is usually around 6500k, & sunshine is usually around 5000k, then u have warm white which is usually around 3000k. for vegging u want 6500-5000k, & for flowering u want 3000-2700k. u can mix the bulbs for a better color coverage, eg: for veg use 3 6500k per 1 3000k, & for flowering use 3 3000k per 1 6500k. or depending on your setup, 1 of each (1 6500k & 1 3000k, for veg), & for flowering if u only have 2 bulbs just use the 3000-2700k

Some of my Lowryder #2 seeds germinated, but my concern is that the cotelydons are pale yellow in color. Is that normal? Or should they be green?
Also, should I start baking them with light now or should I wait a bit more?
