Hey. This is cool.

I am growing my first plant. I am planning on vegging for 10-12 weeks with a 120w blue spectrum CFL on 24/0 at first then moving to 18/6. Then when i switch to my 12/12 to flower after this period i am going to use a 200w red spectrum CFL. I was wondering if at this point it would be worth using both lights to flower to try and maximise the yield. I am growing in a closet so space is an issue thats why i opted for the 120w blue spectrum CFL to veg and didnt think there would be a need for both lights at this stage. I am also going to use LST to try and optimise the yield and i am moving it into a 10" pot when the 24/0 cycle has ended.

Any tips would be helpful

yes more light is always better, & u dont want to transplant b4 u switch to 12/12, do it a wk or so b4 12/12. the rule of thumb is 1gal pot per ft of plant, eg: 3ft tall plant = 3gal pot (10-12")

Thanks for the help. But if i'm doing LST won't it need to be in its final pot and fully LST'd before i flower it?

Hey JCJ i found out what it was, i just got my PH meter in yesterday so i did a run off test and they were at 4.5, my question is how could they get that acidic when the only thing i put in the soil is peatmoss, vermiculite, and distilled water. Also i need to know what to buy to raise/ lower PH i didnt want to buy some thing for raiseing and lowering PH for pools cause i thought that might kill them and the garden center i went to didnt have anything.

yes, & no. ppl will lst their flowering plants if they get to big for the grow space, but yes it should be.

im not sure how it can get that low, ive heard that vermiculite can change a soils ph. anyway u can go to a pet store & buy some ph up & down or get some online, dont use pool chem.

Heres a shot of the diy humidifer/chiller in my hydro hut, w/ it off & on. this was a test run to see the dif between it off & on.

i let the 400w hps hut on for 20mins w/ the diy off humidifer/chiller off, to get it to the running temps & RH, which where 79.1 % 43% as u can see in pic.

heres the shot w/ the diy humidifer/chiller on (only for 10mins) & the temp dropped from 79.1 to 77.9, & the RH rised from 43% to 52% in 10mins, & would prob change more if left on longer, b/c it was still changing (77.6 & 53%) as i was shutting everything off, but i had to leave.
