Good news for me too, finally picked up a 400w hps for 60 shipped, maybe 50 depending on the shipping.

light cycle doesnt matter on which way u grow. a 400w hps will cover an area of 3.5' x 3.5' - 4' x 4'. so ide make the cab about 4w X 4l - 4.5w X 4.5l, & about 6-7' tall. where did u find a 400w for 60$

hey oci, im still tweeking my diy fogger/humidifyer (which will go in my 80cf hydrohut), but is still in my closet (around 300cf) & it drops my temps from 75-78 to 69, & raises my RH from 30-40% to 84%. i know 69 is low, but thats w/ my t5, once in w/ the 400w hps it should help keep it around 78

Ive got two humidifiers ready to be returned cause i refuse to add 1 gal of water every 15hrs just to get 10-15RH lower,too much work.So please post the fogger if you think it would help my 80 cubic foot veg room,and thanx!!!BTW ide like to see some puppy pix!!!

Is there a cheap ghetto homeade way to test PH?
And I am using African Violet, does have time released ferts
but not enough to give my plant nute burn I think?

and 6-7 weeks old (1 foot 2 inches)

Is that small for how long I have been vegging?

the fogger is one i bought at a pet store, but im makeing mods to the setup, it uses about 1gal every 19-20hrs, ill post pics when im done w/ the mods. but the setup idea is the fogger is in a 12ltr tote (3gal), & it floats about 1" below water level, w/ the lid on tote w/ 2 holes, 1 for a small cpu fan blowing in, & 1 hole for the fog to exit out. The Fogger can increase humidity by as much as 100%, diffusing about 200 ml of water per hour. Easy to operate, it includes a 24-volt transformer pack and operates in as little as 5 cm of water (or inside water features like the waterfall). Also includes an automatic shut-off for low-water situations and an on/off indicator.

no there is not, the cheapest ph kit would be the ph test strips from a pool or pet store, u can get a ph meter on ebay for about 20-30$. it might not have enough fert to burn, but i can guarentee its throwing off the ph. timed release ferts are bad news

if u want to continue to grow, i would invest in a ph meter (a must). it should be a little bigger, but size is also determined by strain type, etc.

I am getting one this week then.
I think I am going to start flowering in a week and a half,
so I will start nuting then too.

My bottom leaves are light green and darker at the tips. They feel kind of dry.
Is this bad?

are your leaves dark dark green & a little crispy/ruff, if so, the "claw" (curling under) is a sign of N tox or over fert. look here to see other pics http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=11688

sounds like your in nute lock-out due to ph probs. the dryness can be from low RH too. try giving it some nutes start @ 1/4 strength, it needs Nitrogen. try to foliar feed it 2-3 times a day until u figure out the prob w/ the ph

no prob, test the soil runoff ph. pour reg tap water & gather that water from the drain holes & test its ph.
