I say if money isnt an issue, buy some tables & shit,
do it the hydroponic way, all the way, less hassles, less mess,
but it takes a vigilant eye, must dedicate an hour or so every day once up and running to "look" @ your plants.

When i 1st thought about this it was hydro all the way,started designing four 1'x4' fish tanks in a 4'x4' square with two holes drilled at the bottom, one to flood and the other to drain. Drain into another 1'x4' tank just under all 4 but in the other direction,used as the main sump tank w/nutes and 4 pumps/timers to flood each 1'x4' tank on top. Top tanks filled w/hydroton or plumbed with 1/2 inch PVC with misters/fog sprayers and a cover w/ holes containing 3" or 4" pots with holes filled w/hydroton. Used with the SOG style with a 600W. for each set up/only 600W cause after the two tanks and light with a 7 foot celing im only left with 4' plant and no xtra space. Alot of work with the room,alone only after work it may take longer than i want to wait, but if you guys think this would work WELL ill try it. sorry for the long one.

hey I am outdoor growing and i wanted to ask a couple q first should get nutes for them if yes what kind? second when should I transfer my plants from cups to ground/pots? my last grow didnt go so good I kept em cups for 5 weeks and once I put em in the ground they died and they look like they where stuned they wouldnt grow over 5 inchs tall even when I transfered em what do u think I did wrong ? thanks for the help

yes u can use cfl's for your veg room & clones & mothers. for seeds use dr. chronic @ www.drchronic.com & since you only have 7', id try growing a indica strain, they are shorter.

are u mixing up soil or just putting them in the ground?, for nutes peters 20-20-20 w/ micro nutes is good, but u can use any fert that has micro nutes & in high in nitroigen, mirical gro water souble all purpose 24-8-16 will do. i would transfer them at around wk 3-4. is the area well lit w/ sunlight. id dig your holes and put some good potting soil & perlite (avoid soils w/ timed release ferts in them, ex : mirical gro soils) in there 1st then transplant them & give them a good watering, dont feed after a transplant wait about 5-7days. transplanting always causes some stress. i would start to feed @ wk 4, starting w/ 1/4 strength nutes & work your way up.

I just received my seeds in the mail (10 White Widow, 10 Ice, 10 Crystal, and 5 rando's)
I just started to germinate my very first seeds and have a couple questions regarding the soil. I have some Miracle Gro potting mix that has a ratio of 21-7-14. You mention several times about some 'perlite', does this potting mix I bought have the right stuff or do I need to go buy some better soil. I'm going to be using a 400W HPS for this grow, I could easily grow 4-6 plants with this light, right?

PS - I would like to be able and just go pick up the soil from the store, not looking to order online.

no, the buds get their energy from the leaves, + the leaves act like solar panels absorbing light & co2. u can tie or tuck the leaves away to let more light get to the buds.

dont use any MG soil, they are bad b/c they contain timed released ferts in them (bad), u can use the MG Organic & mix some perlite in it. yes that light will work fine. when u go get soil, make sure the bag doesnt say "feeds up to # of months", this means its got timed release ferts, unless its organic soil.

Yeah, that is exactly what I did buy haha . I'll go get some organic soil but what brand of soil do you use? and perlite, so obviously I need to buy that extra and just mix some hand fulls in with my soil, correct? Just wanting the be absolutly sure I'm going to have the right growing medium, if I am going to do something I would just like to do it right.

Hey man I hear some of the leaves dont have anything to do with light and that their main purpose is to suck water up the plant. Search "sucker leaves" here on GC and let me know if thats true, yeah??

Also wanted to ask if a 4 bulb T5 fixture with a veg color temp (or a 4 40W T12 fixture with warm white/cool white) is better to use for veg than a 400W HPS with bud color temp? I know flouros and T5s will WORK for veg, but if u dont have a MH but DO have an HPS should u veg with the HPS or will the plants miss out on something they would get from the color spectrum of the flouro or the T5 during the veg period???

also SUSPECT u get anywhere with the 400W ballast?? should I get down and dirty with my ballast or is it too complicated to wire it??
