Ok so I am growing out of a 4 inch planters pot right now and I want to transplant my plant to a 1.5 gallon pot (75% Fox Farm 25% Perlite).

How do I successfully take my plant out of one pot and put it into another?
I dont want to mess up the roots or the plant..

How much of a jump did you guys see in your electric bill when you started growing? I'm trying to factor in all the costs going forward as I am about to make my purchases. Will there be a big difference in my bill if I go with a 250W HPS bulb as opposed to a 400W? I plan on buying ten seeds from which I am hoping to cultivate 3 or 4 plants.

Also, I have noticed a wide range of prices on PH meters. Do you think it matters, would you go with a 20 dollar PH meter?

thanks, +reps

I was also wondering about the jump in costs of electricity using a 400 hps. Recently found a 400hps on insidesun for 100$, seemed like a good deal. Right now my electric bill is about 100 a month split between 2 people. (apt., growing CFL/floro style)

That's about where I'm at too. It's a tough choice. I'm trying to weigh all the odds and make the best decision on my lighting system. On the one hand, if I end up with 3 or more females from ten seeds, then a 250W might not be powerful enough. On the other hand, a 400W will undoubtedly increase the electric bill and add more heat to the room.

look here for germin http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-...ion-420-a.html, the best soil is prob fox farm ocean forest, but almost any organic soil will do, MG organic w/ some perlite added to it @ 25%. your bestbet is cfl's or flouro tubes, & the rule of thumb is 50-100w of light per plant. read through my thread as well as others to pick up some info, then comeback w/ ?'s

no, but just b/c u damaged the roots, doesnt mean it will die, take really good care of it not to stress it out anymore it might recover

i like to water the plant & push on the pots sides then just flip the plant upside down & wiggle it out of pot, then put in the other & fill w/ dirt & water

go here to figure cost http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/howmuch.html, though a 400w will cost u about 10-20$ a month depending on your eletric cost. some meters are cheap & work & others dont, my 20$ meter works ok.

thanks jcj I really appreciate your help. Man out of all these pages in your thread, you really dedicate your time and assistance to new growers don't know many people like you.

Down at icmag seems more political on who's the better grower and has the best light system and photos.

I think I will just feed more thrive alive b1 for the first week. Hopefully that will work. I'm so stressed out. More than the plant probably!! All I could think about in bed! Took a look at supra(p1) and she seems okay. No signs of anything at all.

Appreciate all the help man. Now for a few more quick questions. Will my grow room reek of pot when it is growing? And will just regular potting soil and a regular Flourescent light bulb that you screw into any house light socket work?

thanks,
Budman10
