Hey I've been reading through this thread for a few hours now and taking good notes!

The question I have, that I haven't been able to find an answer to, is what's a good cabinet size for six 5ft plants? Basically, how much "land" does each plant need? The strain is White Widow.

I plan on building a cabinet big enough for 4-6 plants, using a 400w mh/hps lighting, a carbon filter, and the hempy bucket method.

JCJ should return soon and he has much cab. knowledge. Your question is unique though as a cab. grow is usually done for one or two reasons,#1. small-med sized plants and #2. stealth.Your 5' hight requirement will require a custom cab because your HB will be at least 1'+5'plants+light gap+light space=7'+ cab which can work for stealth and for 5' plants but will require some extra work.You may want to rethink your desire to use 5' plants as that is unnecessary in any cab. grow.Why 5' and not 2-3'? Its your choice with this unique plant to grow almost any hight you want,but why make it harder on yourself.Also think about working with a 7'+ cab and working around big bushy plants and all the garb that goes with it.

if it says 4 months, how long has it been in that soil. timed release ferts are hard to flush out. i dought u can get everyone unless its been 4 months, & when u do flush, flush w/ warm water & flush alot, 3x the amount of container size, & do it for a few days to be sure. & add hydrogen peroxcide 3% @ a rate of 2 caps per gallon, adds extra o2 to roots to prevent overwaterng

it depends on the fan size & speed, but you'll need a fan(s) that can move 125+cfm

i used mg soil a long time ago w/ timed ferts, & had probs all nthe way through, but they made it, got 2oz per plant, but i hade to flush for about a wk to be sure i got them out. & the smoke was fine.

i would give each plant a 3 x 3 area, & make the box @ least 7-8ft tall

no, u can use cfl, flouros, mh, hps, led, other hid's, & sunlight, almost any light, but those are the best, reg light bulbs will work, but highly not recommended

Inching closer to making my lighting and seed purchases, and I have a few more questions...


I've read conflicting articles on exactly where to store germinating seeds. Both sources agree on the wetted paper-towel in a sealed container (or bag), but one says to store it on a window sill and the other in a warm dark place...any idea which works better?

Here is an obscure question- Is there a similar plant to marijuana that can be used for the purpose of discussion/asking questions with say, someone from Steins Gardens and gifts? I'm just worried that I'll end up asking a few questions to someone "not on the uptake" and they will ask what I am growing.


Once seeds are ordered and received, what kind of shelf life do they have before germination, and how should they be stored?

i can answer that one for you go with the warm dark place, i got a 100% success rate of 3 seeds in a plastic bag with one damp paper towel that i just put in one of my desk drawers. (2 sprouted on the 2nd day and the last sprouted on day 3, also make sure to use tweezers to transfer the sprouted seeds for man handling them with your fingers can kill them.

50%-60% humidity is good avg, anything aboce 75% is icreasing chances of mold and mildewyou ca n go below but it would be best to keep 50-60%
