Flushing wont rise my ph

My plant has been looking unhealthy so I thought I would check Ph with the new pen I bought. Very low... around 5.5. I've read that flushing with 3x the volume of the pot will correct.

I've been flushing with tap water, running through the pot constantly for about 2 hours. Probably close to 50 gallons by now. The runoff ph with tap water at 7.2 is still only about 5.9. What gives? I figured by now, with this quantity of water, I would see a significant change. My plant is LST'd in her pot, about 2 weeks into flowering. Leaves are curling downward and top leaves are very dark green. I was thinking N toxicity.

What gives? Why won't my Ph go up? Should I add lime? I can't get any any time soon.

To raise ph, or in other words make soils less acidic, the common practice is to apply a material that contains some form of lime. Ground agricultural limestone is most frequently used. The finer the limestone particles, the more rapidly it becomes effective. Different soils will require a different amount of lime to adjust the soil pH value. The texture of the soil, organic matter content and the plants to be grown are all factors to consider in adjusting the pH value, you wont need much for what we are growing. For example, soils low in clay require less lime than soils high in clay to make the same pH change.

Finally, to lower ph, repeat the process listed above but useing aluminum sulfate or sulfur.

yup flushing with just water won't do the trick unfortunately. you'll need something alkaline like lime as mentioned above, or potassium hydroxide solutions. there are some commercial solutions that let you do this, like "pH UP":

try to keep it between 6 and 7 ideally for soil growing. hope that helps some...
