not totally true, a few crops ago, i bought super concentrated watermellon flavoring (food grade), starved my plants of water for a wk or so before harvest till they wilted some, then i mixed the flavor w/ water & watered them, & let them sit for 4-hrs to suck up the flavor, i wasnt expecting it to work, but it did, i ended up with killer buds that had a watermellon smell & taste. the smell was stronger than the taste, but it worked on this crop & the one after that as well, i used tootie fruity.

I'm sure what jcj said probably works cuz if you look at the water transport logistics of the plants and just common sense natural selection... when low on water, the plants focus all they're moisture into the buds (the reproductive organs), if you water the plants with a completely soluble flavoring, the roots will absorb whatever water is in the soil and sinse the flavoring is soluble, it remains in the water. You just have to make sure you use a lot and in high concentration or the soil will trap the flavoring. Once the plant absorbs the water, it is sent directly to where it's needed most, the buds, if you harvest the plant within a couple days, it should be flavored the way you want.

Problems with actually getting this to work:

-soil absorbs flavoring (flavoring only works WELL hydroponically)
-other than flavor extracts, no other flavoring agents are soluble enough in water
-the taste will NOT be in your smoke, only the smell of the buds

I read that shit off some website a while ago, sounds logical to me, but websites do lie sometimes, I stick to tropical punch in my bong.

yo jcj77d,

whats your take on outdoor buds that may have a little bit og bugs in them? im growing outdoors for the first time and i can not keep the bugs off, their not spider mites or anything that small, will it still me smokeable or will i be able to make hash from it?

check my outdoor thread if you have a minute you cn look t the last lady i have left in there.

if you spend months growing out your plants, the last thing you want to do is fuck them up with some color/flavor additive. after they're properly cured, then mess with a few buds. you can over-dry your selected buds and then re-hydrate them with your favorite kool-aid or whatever, and go from there. and as stated, the amount of colored hairs on your buds is an amateurs way of checking for ripeness. the "only" (reliable) way to know when to harvest, is by the trichomes.

i had some kinda bugs on my master kush plants i had outdoors, i just knocked off as much as possible by shaking the shit out of it, then i chopped it, put it in ther deep freezer for 24hrs, took it out & banged the buds on the table to make all the dead bugs fall off, then manicured, dryed & shaked again. i smoked it & it was fine.

That's smart man.

Just FYI, some bugs might not actually die from that, but they'd definitely not be crawling around when they're that cold. They might wake up and move around when they warm up so make sure you sort everything out while it's still cold.
