I've heard both pro's and con's for each.....

24 hours
Pro - 24 hours of light will make everything grow quicker...

18/6 - More to the sun's natural light period, gives the bulb a rest.

My personal experience is just to go 24 hours. I'm doing that right now becasue it gets a bit cold in that room at the moment, and the heat keeps it the right temp.

i thought someone said that it gives the plant time to fix itself. like if you were fimming and such. kinda like how bodybuilders need lots of rest because thats when the body repairs itself (and muscle tissue). didnt know if this was the same.

also, would it be better for 18/6 if you were SCroG'ing since it wouldnt grow as tall / if you had limited space (for same reason)

There was a great thread a few months back about this.

I'm lazy, but to summarize, MJ is a...shit...let use X type for shits and giggles. X types do not bennefit from a dark period in veg stage.( I rememebered the lesson, just not the specific plant types) More light = more and faster growth. As mentioned 18/6 gives the bulb and your electricity a rest.

Umm, I don't think so. I would use LST or topping/fimming to keep the plant short. (Totally fake #'s, just example) Why veg for 2 or so extra weeks at 18/6, then 2 less weeks vegging at 24/7, for similar size and all???? I dunno about you, but my MJ can never be done soon enough, lol!

They both will work fine and I haven't seen nor read anything to prove that either schedule is superior. 24/0 is easy and works fine. 18/6 works fine and saves you a little $$ on the electric bill. I have never found that the plants on 24 hour schedule grow massively bigger than those on 18/6. If there is a difference in size it isn't huge. I'm sure some strains may do a little better under 24/0 just as I'm sure some would do a tad better under 18/6. It all averages out just do whatever is best for you.
