Noob question

I've just recently started growing, and at current time I'm on such a tight budget that I can't go purchase the proper lighting needed for my closet growroom. So I figured what the hell, and stuck a tiny seedling under a $15 desk lamp with a 14w energy efficient flourescent bulb (one of those skinny, curly bulbs) I figured it's nowhere near enough to get the plant going, so I didn't really put much thought into my plan of action for the plant. It turns out that the bulb actually works for the plant, and my plant is now about 15 inches tall. I haven't pruned it at all, the bottom leaves are yellowing up and have a few brown spots. I also bring the plant out every day for a few hours of natural sun to see if it will aid the problem. Is this correct or is it putting a lot of stress on the plant? Also, I've had the plant on 12/12 for about 6 days now, and I still can't tell the sex of the plant. Is my plant extremely stressed, and is my pos light going to make it thru until the end? (assuming it's a female)

Also, what type of lighting would you guys recommend for a closet growroom about 6'W x 3'
for someone on a tight budget? would flouros work best for this, or is it a huge step up for an HPS?

i dont think putting it in the sun would do anything except help it, since its a TON better than the 14w light ur using inside.

now about ur closet, what are ur measurements i think u had a couple typos in there, is it 6' tall by 3' wide and 3' deep? or is it 6' wide 3' tall 3' deep? if its 6' tall and 3' wide id suggest an hps or mh light becuz it seems like totally enuf height to use those better lights, if 3' tall i would suggest fluros

that light isnt near enough to grow any real harvest, it may be even too early to go to 12/12

i have a clost grow going on and i have 6 of the 26w CFL, and I worked up from starting with one.

They are cheap, but the only problem i have is with all the different light fixtures/hoods i had to get. I found a few but i had to buy some and they cost more than the lights themselves.

I think more curly flouro lights would work... with a higher wattage.

I use 4 ft flourecent fixtures. You can get one for about $20 - $40 Canadian at most hardware stores. But that all depends on your budget... If cash is that tight for you, then you should wait to grow, save up enough money for more light. It will be cash well spent!

I use flourecents because I have them lying all over my house, from my day job, and also because of the amount of heat they produce. My fixtures are nowhere near as hot as a HPS or MH light, but I am sacrificing light intensity with flourecents.
