a fair few questions about outdoor growing

Ok, im going for my first grow. I cant grow indoors, or in my garden, so im going for a spot of gurilla growing.

Ive read up probably far to much the last week or so, asked around and decided on these seeds:

Seems like a pretty good seed, fast growing (which in my case is important), fairly good yields and they turn orangey when ready to harvest, making it harder for me, the novice, to miss the signs heh.

Im planning on putting the seeds straight into there final pots, filled with soil that would normaly grow tomatoe plants, aparently this is fairly good for 'erb plants.

My plan is, to put the seeds straight into the big pots and cover the pots with a clear bag (like you would do with smaller pots), but put these outside in there designated grow areas. Once they grow a inch or so, ill take off the plastic and go from there.
Do you guys think this will cause any problems?

My main concern is that i live in the UK, SW part of it. The weather here is getting a lot better lately, a bit cold in the mornings but FAR from a frost. I plan on planting them as soon as posable, probably within 5 days. I would say the sun comes up at around 7 and goes down about 6, meaning 11 hours light. This does worry me slightly as i know they really need more than this to grow properly. Do you think they would be ok growing in this amount of light?

Next big question is time, roughly how long is the vegetative stage on outdoor plants? the flowering period on the seeds im getting is 7-8 weeks, so ill say 8. If i allow about 1 - 1.5 months for the growing and 2 months for the flowering, does this sound about right?

Also i know that when growing indoors, you can force the plants to grow by giving 12/12 light, but how would you do that outside? I thought about letting them grow to a decent height and then like sticking a box over them after roughly 12 hours of light. If i just left them to do there own little thing (with watering + nutes obviosly), how much longer would this take to grow?

and finally, on the subject of nutes - If i grow them in tomatoe soil, will i need to add anything to them? I know the experienced grower would, but im trying to keep this simple on the first attempt, so could they get away without added nutes?

Actualy il call this the final question. If i was to keep them indoors for a little while, how much would they smell, roughly? Obviosly i would move them outdoors once they grew a few inches, im guessing the first few shoots dont really have a smell to them?

Sorry for all the questions, but i really want to get the info sorted and the seeds planted =] Im going spot hunting this saterday, ill post pics of what i find!

I think it is a bit early to plant them outside yet. Days are not long enough and it might get too cold. If you start indoors smell really depends on strain and how many plants there are. Does the tomato soil have nutes in it? If so, soil with pre added ferts is no good for seedlings. Get soil free of any nutes and add your own tomato ferts later. Later is usually 3 weeks of live or later. To trick an out door plant to flower when the days are longer than 12-14 hours you must cover them with some sort of light proof tarp. The vegative stage for outdoor plants assuming you start in April or so would be from time you plant it to the summer solstice which is June 21st. After June 21 the days get shorter so about 3 weeks after that buds should start to form indicating flowering has begun.
