watering your plants
hello, I'm still a new grower so take this for what it is worth to you. watering my plants was something that took me a while to learn to do correctly and now that it seems I have it I wanted to share with whomever might be interested.
1. when to water
I put my finger into the soil and feel for dampness, with practice I could tell myself ok, I will water this plant tommorrow morning. I wait until the soil feels dry, no dampness.
2. how much water to use
I use a little less than 1/4 of the soil I'm using, ex. I use 3 gallon pots so I use just over 2 quarts of water when I water to completely moisten soil from top of pot to bottom.
If you don't use enough water, roots will not dig any deeper, they stay near top and when your plant gets a little taller, it will just fall over.
3. water to use
I just use plain tap water, I read that the solids in the tap water is good. I get water to about room temp, or slightly warmer so as not to shock roots with cold water.
that's it, I didn't get into feeding in this post because I am not experienced enough to offer advise on that yet. I hope this is helpful for someone.
