What the hell went wrong?

Ok hey all....my first post

I started my first grow in the spring and they finished Oct...or so I thought. I brought them inside to finish...snow comes real fast were I live. They never really got all that big and bushy( maybe 4 ft max ) but I trimmed alot of leafs to get light to the lower part of the plant ( remember this was my first time grow ). I know not to do this again !

They looked like a pot plant, had some real small buds but since I had them close to males before I realized it they developed some seeds. Not to bad only 17 seed but my question is what went wrong...? I dried the plans ( only 2 ) till they almost broke and then cured for a month opening 2 times a day. I tried somel and it was weak and didn't have the same smell...the buds crumbled appart. Not sure if this happened because of the male plants or what? Also they were polinated b a hermi so does that mean the seeds should all be Female?

I used bag seed, Mirical grow soil from store, nothing special. Could the stretching of the plants when young cause the lack of decent smoke when finished? Sorry guys just trying to figure out what I did wrong so I will not do it again. I used some grow lights till big then they spent most of there life out side. I checked them everyday and they looked good just didn't have any poentency.

I Agree. Put an orange peel in with them for a couple of hours and then recure them. Should help.

Well shit...thanks guys...

I just wonder if it was because she was polinated?? Could that make the plant kinda small and no big buds? I figured she was useing all of her energy growing seeds? Just a thought...I will say this the smoke is not harsh or gives a headache just not very strong.

Yes, if the female becomes polinated all of her energy will be used for seed production and basically the bud stops growing. Check your plants often and early for signs of a male and remove him from the "herd". If you do not know, to sex your plants, look for either a couple white, hairy pistils, (female) or a pollen sack. (male) These are the first signs of flowering, and they begin at roughly the 4th week of the vegetative stage.

If your budget can swing it, you may want to consider ordering seeds online rather than saving them from your bag. Saving and planting bag seeds is ok, but they may not always produce the same quality pot as the buds they came from; usually they will develop into hermaphrodites.

Thanks Matt83 that is what I figured.....I started with 5 and 3 were males or Hermies and they ended up effecting the girls.

Its alot tougher that is looks growin...I need to buy some seeds but I first want to experiment with the bag kind..don't wanna dropp $50 on seeds and have them do the same thing...

well why not just spend $35 dollars and get 30 seeds, then you have 30 tries

just a tip for if ur bud does get too dry - take it into the bathroom, open it out on paper & leave the shower running hot for a bit.
They will absorb some of the steam in the air & be moist(er) again.

don't overdo it obviously as u'll have to dry them again!

Grow bagseed until you perfect your growning. Honestly, you can grown some pretty shitty strains but with some love they can still turn out good.

Agreed. Bag-seed can produce EXCELLENT weed, and is a great way to perfect your growing. But with breeders like Nirvana on the go, you might still want to look into a packet of something known.

Re-moistening the bud and re-curing isn't going to make it much more potent. It will make it better to work with, to smoke. Unless we're talking a bout a *lot* of bud, it might not be worth it. Make hash or oil instead.

By the way, I've smoked over-dried bud that blew my mind, and seeded buds that did the same. A seeded plant can be extremely potent, but you get less actual smoking material, because of all the seeds.

It wasn't a wasted effort. You learned something, at least, and that's what it's all about. You did get buds, and that's more than a lot of n00bs get so, well done!

Next time you might want to consider not using Miracle Grow.
