No special soil for LST, same as you would use for a non-LST grow.

I think im finally gonna try this...

How big of a pot should I use like diameter wise if im vegging for about a month under CFL's?

The biggest pot you can -- the more root volume you give the plant below the soil, the bigger it can get above the soil. At least 3 gallon.

grow setup in progress...

If I LST'd around the pot like this and topped all the branches growing up would this help it stay shorter/bushier?

Yes, it would keep the plant shorter and bushier. That, and to increase yield, are the main points of LST.
