I realize this might have been asked already. But I have limited time to read it all.

Can LST be used with hydroponic systems. Such as a four plant bubble bucket.

is there any point to LST an Auto ak47 or any auto plants

I'm trying to plan an indica grow so that I can go out of town for three weeks and have a friend look after it during one of the easier stages.
I was hoping to time it so that I will be away either before I can LST or after I am finished with LSTing and it can just do its thing

My questions:

how long does it take to get 5 leaf sets?

How long does the LST process take? By this I mean from the 5th leaf set to when I stop tying down the main stem and branches

There is no set number of blades per fan leaf for MJ plants, it's genetic, so no telling when your plants will reach 5 blades -- 2-3 weeks?

LST is an ongoing process if you want, so as the plant continues to grow you can continue to tie it down. Or, at any time you can stop and the plant will grow upwards from that point. You also can LST more later, though as the plant gets bigger the stems get thicker and harder to bend.

It's not so much a time thing as a plant structure thing. Usually the 4th or 5th set

Awesome point. You are training the plant to meet YOUR space/styles needs. If you are getting too wide, let it grow upwards for a bit.

Hello fellow GC'ers I'm trying to figure out how LST will work with my grow box design. I have a few ideas of what I'd like to grow, but I have no idea how to predict the height of the plant if it has been LST'd.
I'm hoping to use small space to aid in stealth. My current plan (I'm sure it will change, again) is to use a rubbermaid bin approx 36lx21hx18w I would like to grow 2-3 plants in 2-5gallon pots, under CFLs (will change depending on heat/number of plants) and I do not need a shotened veg period, so around 4 weeks veg, or longer if the space is good enough.
So question is how do I plan this to see if I have enough space?

I hope to be growing by the end of the year, its a pity I cant be ready to smoke my own by New Years, but not buying in 2010 is a great runner up prize!

Here is another question. Lets assume, for arguments sake, that no matter what you will always get the nice 4-way cross from plucking the fifth set. Wouldnt that also mean that you would get the same result from the 7th, 9th, 11th, ect.. since the nodes alternate? So if you want the symmetrical cross but a lil higher up, you could take out the 7th instead? That would just give you a little more room in between the two splits.
