You can do it if you are trying to stay below a fence line, for instance. Otherwise, it's probably unnecessary IMO.

This might have already been covered in this post. I had a pretty tough time finding it if it was.

Anyway, Im curious as to exactly how long you can LST for? Obviously only while its in veg I got that part. For instance, in a controlled environment with LED's right above my babies, how many times can I spiral it up? And should it spiral outwards or inwards? Like should the second row of LST have a larger diameter or a smaller when compared to the first? And what kind of issues can I expect to encounter as I add rows to LST? With the LED's you could hang a light right wherever needed for maximum exposure.

Pretty sure you would want to go outside. Also, you wouldn't want the new growth to cover the previous growth in any way, or you defeat the purpose of LST. You could potentially use a ginormous pot (36" diameter, etc.) and LST for as long as the plant will grow. All plants have a limit to the height they will grow. Not sure if it's just related to gravity, but based on some sativa breeds, you could grow something as large as 20 feet. That's a lot of LST.

The whole LST concept is pretty interesting. Got a hydro system so LST is gonna be on very small scale, 3 inch netpots, lol. From what I've read seems that the main stem is gonna grow upward in the end. At this point, Im not even sure if LST would be beneficial to maximize yield like this. Im thinking about LST for just half and leave the other alone then comparing yields, just for fun.

I think they are more limited by the root space than the height but I could be wrong

Ok, I just harvested a mother plant that I had LST'd repeatedly. IT WAS HUGE. It was about 12 months old, she was about 36" across and 5' tall. She was in a 5 gallon grow bag, and was not even close to root bound.

Of course different strains will have different root structure and growth rates, but I LOVE LST.

P.S. I will never grow one this big again. But she was a beauty.
